Job description

Belvedere Trading is a leading proprietary trading firm with offices in Chicago, New York, Boulder, and Singapore. Our traders work hard to provide liquidity to the market through their market-making activities and are the masters of a diverse set of commodities, interest rates, exchange-traded funds (ETF), and equity index options. From the beginning, we began iteratively investing in our proprietary technology and committing to building our systems from the ground up. Our trading models and software systems are continually re-engineered, optimized, and maintained to stay on top of the industry. We operate best within a team environment where we challenge each other to deliver value consistently and share in the success of the company.

Riverside Capital Markets (RCM) is a joint venture between our five founding partners and Belvedere Trading.  Our teams specialize in Market Making and Quantitative Trading in Equity & ETF Options, ETFs, Futures and Futures Options.  We have teams based in New York, Chicago and remote locations that utilize both internal and external software solutions for trading.   We look for savvy individuals and teams who are looking to help build great businesses in the trading landscape.

Our team is seeking a Software Engineer to help design, build, and support high‑performance trading systems. This role is ideal for engineers early in their careers who want meaningful ownership, exposure to complex technical problems, and the opportunity to work closely with quantitative traders and experienced engineers in a fast‑paced environment.

You will contribute across the full software development lifecycle while developing systems that are reliable, performant, and aligned with business objectives. We’re looking for engineers who are intellectually curious and motivated to continually evolve and develop.

What You'll Do
  • Design, develop, and enhance scalable, extensible applications that support real‑time trading across multiple asset classes
  • Implement, test, deploy, and maintain performance‑critical systems with a focus on reliability and correctness
  • Troubleshoot and support production applications in time‑sensitive environments
  • Collaborate with engineers, quantitative researchers, and project stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions
  • Write clean, maintainable, and well‑tested code that meets high quality standards
  • Analyze and solve complex technical problems, balancing performance, readability, and extensibility
  • Participate in code reviews and apply best practices in software design and development
  • Continuously learn about trading systems, markets, and new technologies through hands‑on work and team knowledge sharing
What You'll Need
  • 1–3 years of professional software development experience (or equivalent internships, co‑ops, or applied project work)
  • Experience across multiple phases of the software development lifecycle, including design, implementation, testing, and support
  • Strong foundation in computer science fundamentals such as data structures, algorithms, and object‑oriented design
  • Experience building performant, reliable, or highly available systems (academic, professional, or personal projects)
  • Ability to reason about trade‑offs and choose appropriate tools or approaches for a given problem
  • A strong sense of ownership and accountability for the systems you help build
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment
  • Intellectual curiosity and a desire to continuously learn and improve
Additionally, certain positions at Belvedere Trading are eligible for discretionary bonuses. Our employees have access to a variety of benefits, which can be found on our website
Women and underrepresented groups frequently apply to jobs only if they meet 100% of the qualifications.
We encourage you to break that mold and apply. No candidate is perfect; all have a lot to offer. We welcome your application.
