Job description

Belvedere Trading is a leading proprietary trading firm proudly headquartered in downtown Chicago. Our traders work hard to provide liquidity to the market through their market-making activities and are the masters of a diverse set of commodities, interest rates, exchange-traded funds (ETF), and equity index options. From the beginning, we began iteratively investing in our proprietary technology and committing to building our systems from the ground up. Our trading models and software systems are continually re-engineered, optimized, and maintained to stay on top of the industry. This wouldn’t be possible without the dedicated efforts of our technology teams who utilize and perfect our innovative technology solutions.

High-performance proprietary development is the source of our success and competitive advantage at Belvedere, further fueling our passion for performance. We are a team driven by intellectual curiosity, seeking answers that will change not only how we trade in this technological age, but also the future landscape of the trading industry. We place a high premium on defining, developing, and deploying high-performance trading software using a team-based, holistic development approach. We look for passionate team members that excel and their contribution is critical to our continued success.

We seek an experienced Team Lead to guide the team responsible for developing the logic that controls the market activity of our execution systems.

In this role, you will work closely with quantitative researchers, traders, and engineers to design, build, and evolve high‑performance, mission‑critical components of our automated options trading stack.

Our systems are primarily C++, with supporting Python components. You should be comfortable working across this technology stack and within a fast‑paced environment that leverages automated daily releases, rigorous code reviews, and strong testing and validation practices.

Belvedere Trading is looking for a self‑starter with a successful track record as both an individual contributor and a team leader. Team Leads at Belvedere take ownership of their team's direction, invest deeply in their own technical growth, and help elevate the engineers around them.

What You'll Do:
  • Drive consistent improvements to trade selection, system performance, and overall architecture.

  • Set and execute on a high‑impact technical roadmap aligned with trading needs, research priorities, and firm strategy.

  • Prioritize and deliver production‑ready features while identifying and reducing technical debt affecting latency, stability, and model correctness.

  • Own and maintain high standards for code quality, low‑latency performance, testability, and system reliability.

  • Provide strong people leadership through coaching, mentorship, and proactive unblocking to sustain execution velocity and grow team capability.

  • Mentor engineers to deepen expertise in low‑latency design, C++, and options trading concepts.

  • Contribute hands‑on with targeted features, optimizations, bug fixes, and data analysis to validate behavior and resolve production issues.

  • Incorporate feedback from traders, quants, and partner engineering teams, and clearly communicate timelines, risks, and status to stakeholders and leadership.

What You'll Need:
  • 5+ years in a technical/coding role with experience delivering high‑performance software.

  • Formal experience managing and mentoring software developers.

  • Demonstrated success managing projects through all phases of the software development lifecycle.

  • Strong experience designing and architecting end‑to‑end systems, ideally in a low‑latency environment.

  • Expert C++ fluency required; ability to provide thoughtful code reviews.

  • Additional experience in Python (or C#) is a strong plus.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment.

  • A proactive mindset with a desire to continuously learn and improve.

Additionally, certain positions at Belvedere Trading are eligible for discretionary bonuses. Our employees have access to a variety of benefits, which can be found on our website
Women and underrepresented groups frequently apply to jobs only if they meet 100% of the qualifications.
We encourage you to break that mold and apply. No candidate is perfect; all have a lot to offer.
We welcome your application.
