PURPOSE

Under the supervision of the Manager, requires and orders food daily. Checks incoming goods against order sheets. Assists in maintenance of inventory. Does routine manual labor in receiving, delivering, and storing of food products.  Unloads packs, unpacks, checks, inspects, and stores food and household supplies. May perform manual work in the care and cleaning of storerooms, coolers, and freezers. May assist in production areas of the unit. May be required to drive a corporate vehicle. Has thorough knowledge of the NYS health codes. May be required to unlock or secure building.  Performs weekly and end of month inventory.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 

  • May be required to secure or unlock building
  • May have to drive a corporate vehicle
  • May have to do requirements of food products 2 weeks in advance
  • Writes orders for the next day’s delivery
  • Rotates all incoming stock in the FIFO style
  • Thaws products that are necessary for menu items
  • Communicates with all necessary employees as to products needed for menu items
  • Carefully check all delivery items for order accuracy and quality. If a delivery charge is wrong, you must inform the Manager so that proper credit can be obtained
  • Must have a good working knowledge of the NYS Health Codes so that food products are stored correctly
  • Accept all direct deliveries (ex. Milk, bread, soda)
  • May do a milk order each morning by 10:00 am for the next day’s delivery. May have to call this order in
  • Carefully check soda deliveries. Have delivery man rotate all bag in box products and ensure that they are stored properly
  • Remove dented cans from shelves and transfer products back to warehouse for credit
  • Label open freezer products with food item name and weight of each case
  • Check cooler and freezer temperatures consistently. Must make sure there are working thermometers present
  • Must store all products in compliance with ServSafe regulations
  • If you allow another unit to borrow items, you must write up an interdepartmental transfer sheet correctly
  • Alert Manager to times that were outed
  • On the last day of the month, must ensure that all storerooms, freezers, and coolers are neat and organized for inventory
  • May have to work in salads, bakes, deli, and cooks’ areas if the need arises
  • Must know how to read a catering sheet
  • Must be able to set up a coffee service without assistance
  • Is responsible for the cleanliness of refrigeration and dry storage areas
  • Other duties may be assigned to reach individual and organizational goals.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE 

  • Minimum – High School Diploma/GED or equivalent experience
  • Must have a violation-free NYS driver’s license and be approved/authorized by the CAS insurance company to drive company vehicles

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS  

  • Ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds occasionally
  • Extensive computer use (Microsoft word, Excel)

SCOPE AND DIRECTION 

  • Reports to: CAS Restaurants and Cafes Management
  • Direct Reports: None
  • FSLA Status: Hourly
  • Rate of pay $18.55 per hour
