Job description

Summary:
Do you love Halloween and creating unforgettable thrills? As a Fright Fest Scare Actor (Ghoul), you will bring the scares to life by immersing guests in a terrifying and entertaining experience. Scare Actors interact with guests throughout the park, using movement, character work, and themed environments to deliver fun, spooky frights while maintaining a safe and engaging atmosphere.
We are looking for energetic and dependable Ghouls who are comfortable working in close proximity to park guests while delivering memorable scares.
Fright Fest runs every Saturday & Sunday starting Saturday, September 26th. Rehersals will begin the week of September 14th.
What You Will Be Doing
  • Safely scare guests while maintaining the setting and atmosphere of the zone of attraction.
  • Wear and maintain costumes, and stage makeup/prosthetics for extended periods of time, and appropriately utilize assigned props.
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety of attraction, zone, or performance venue.
  • Energetically interact with guests and not break character for the duration of the shift.
  • Rotate in gatekeeping/front of house positions to group and manage guest throughput at attractions.
  • Memorize any necessary and/or assigned dialogue, safety spiels, emergency exit plans, safety operating procedures, and park guidelines.
  • Make appearances at special park functions or occasionally serve as an usher for entertainment venues.
  • Comply with all company and safety guidelines as listed in the employee handbook.
  • Other duties as requested.

How You Will Do It
  • Maintain Costume Character Standards as set forth by Great Escape.
  • Maintain character costumes including general cleaning and daily maintenance.
  • Maintain and clean show venues, backstage areas, and dressing rooms.
  • Maintain all of the guidelines outlined in the department and character training
  • You may be asked to apply both your own make-up and/or prosthetics
  • Willfully perform duties in any department at The Great Escape Resort when necessary
  • Be an active team member of the Operations Division and the Entertainment Department
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment for guests and team members
  • Follow all delegated tasks assigned by Entertainment Supervisor or as stated in the Entertainment Standard Operating Procedures
  • Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned

What You Will Need
  • Must be at least 16 years old.
    • Minors must have a Child Performer Permit
  • Must have a positive attitude and strong work ethic.
  • Must be available for training and/or rehearsals prior to the beginning of Fright Fest. (September 14th)
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends, late nights, and some weekday evenings.
  • Must be able to sit, stand, or walk for long periods of time
  • Actors who are also experienced in make-up and/or prosthetics are strongly encouraged to apply
  • Must be able to work both indoors and outdoors in all types of weather conditions and in both natural and artificial lighting including Strobes, Fog, Haze, and other technical/special effects. Must be alert, attentive, observant, and assertive as needed in a fast-paced, multi-functional position.
  • Must be willing and able to interact with guests on an individual level as well as large groups of all ages.
  • Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time, climb stairs, bend, stoop, reach, twist, sit and lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Must possess the mental and physical capacities to perform essential job duties.
  • Should be a self-starter and able to take direction.
  • Maintain all Great Escape policies and Department Safety Standards.
  • Comply with all company and safety guidelines as listed in the employee handbook.
  • Other duties as requested.

Pay Rate: $16.00-$20.00 per hour, based on talent and specialty skills such as juggling, stilt walking, improvisation, character performance, and other unique entertainment abilities.
