Industrial Welder / Fabricator

$33.34/hr + $2 Shift Premium | 2nd Shift | Waukesha, WI

Kelly Services is hiring experienced Industrial Welders / Fabricators for a hands-on manufacturing opportunity in Waukesha, WI.

If you enjoy welding, fabrication, blueprint work, and building large industrial components, this could be a strong next move.

You’ll fabricate and weld critical components used in medium-power, large-power, and extra-high-voltage transformers, working with mild steel, stainless steel, copper, precision measuring tools, fixtures, cranes, and multiple welding processes.

Base Pay: $33.34/hour
Shift Premium: +$2.00/hour
Effective Hourly Rate: $35.34/hour

Shift: 2nd Shift
Hours: 3:00 PM–11:00 PM

What You'll Be Doing

As an Industrial Welder / Fabricator, you’ll help build and repair welded assemblies used inside large power transformers.

Your day may include:

  • Setting up, laying out, marking, fitting, and welding fabricated components

  • Welding mild steel and stainless steel

  • Performing internal and external welds on transformer components

  • Working on specialty assemblies, including clamps and covers

  • Loading and positioning parts on weld tables and fixtures

  • Reading and following print drawings, technical data sheets, and bills of material

  • Using calibrated measuring tools to verify dimensions and tolerances

  • Inspecting your own welds throughout the process

  • Repairing weld defects when identified during inspection

  • Grinding, sanding, cutting, and finishing welded components

  • Moving finished assemblies to carts, pallets, or transport devices

  • Performing basic maintenance on tools and welding equipment

  • Supporting other welders and production team members as needed

Depending on the product and assignment, you may work with:

  • GMAW / MIG

  • GTAW / TIG

  • SMAW / Stick

  • GMAW-MC

  • Stud welding

  • Submerged arc welding

  • Specialty welding processes used in transformer fabrication

What We're Looking For

Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or GED required

  • Prior experience in welding, heavy fabrication, manufacturing, or power equipment is preferred

  • Experience with multiple welding processes is highly desirable

Physical Requirements

This is an active heavy-manufacturing position.

Candidates should be comfortable:

  • Standing for 7 hours or more during the shift

  • Frequently walking and standing

  • Bending, kneeling, twisting, pushing, and pulling

  • Lifting at least 50 lbs. multiple times during a shift

  • Working around large industrial equipment

  • Working at heights of 12 feet or more when required

  • Using overhead cranes and powered industrial vehicles

  • Wearing required PPE and following all safety procedures
