Crouse’s Sterile Reprocessing team is hiring a Reprocessing Technician to prepare and disinfect specialized instruments and equipment ready for sterilization, operates and monitors all sterilization equipment

Pay Range: $20.00 - $28.37 (non-certified) $20.50 - $30.34 (certified)

Available Schedule(s):

  • Full-Time, 3:00pm–11:30pm with rotating weekends and holidays

Sterile Reprocessing Responsibilities:

  • Accurately assembles, wraps, initials and dates all specialty trays and instruments in preparation for sterilization in a timely manner.
  • Collaborates with the Sterile Processing Technicians to ensure that instruments/ trays are prepared and ready for cases in a timely manner.
  • Coordinates and plans with the designated surgical areas, the instruments/supplies and equipment needed to perform cases across various departments.
  • Efficiently retrieves used items from clinical areas according to schedule and process sterile trays, routes items to decontamination area for proper cleaning.
  • Executes various procedures necessary to ensure proper function of the sterilizers (e.g., biological tests, Bowie Dick tests) and utilizes other sterilization monitors, as required.
  • Properly operates and monitors all sterilizers/ decontamination equipment, observing all parameters throughout each cycle, and proactively reports any abnormalities to department leadership.
  • Consistently follows existing decontamination procedures and uses a combination of manual and mechanical cleaning.
  • Efficiently and accurately completes all instrument sets, checks all instruments for cracks, soil, rust or malfunction and replaces, as needed.
  • Proactively assembles and packages items to replenish sterile stock in the distribution area and restocks the emergency sterile trays stored in the Surgical Suite/Surgery Centers.

Sterile Reprocessing Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Graduate of Sterile Processing Technician program or two (2) to three (3) years recent work experience in sterile processing.
  • Certification as Sterile Processing/Distribution Technician or Instrument Processing Technician is required.  If hired prior to receiving certification, employee must obtain within the first year of employment.  Certification with the certifying agency must be maintained throughout their employment at Crouse Hospital, re-certifying as required and in accordance with the certifying agency guidelines.
