Job description

LocationEdwardsville, IL 62025 Scheduled Hours40Position SummaryThis position leads and oversees the work of sterile processing in the clinical ambulatory care setting. Performs a variety of sterile processing functions, which include the decontamination, preparation, sterilization, and distribution of instrumentation to the clinical exam and procedure rooms. Required to maintain and control both sterile and non-sterile supplies and identifies and remediates equipment and process failures and hazards while maintaining appropriate and complete records. Supports high level disinfection procedures. Serves as primary resource for others and works as a high functioning member of a clinical team.Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Disassembles, inspects, cleans, tests functionality and assembles instrumentation and power equipment according to the instruction for use and industry standards. Follows proper techniques and procedures to ensure the integrity of the sterilization process.

  • Utilizes and troubleshoots steam and low temperature sterilizers. Promptly notifying supervisor of priority needs, malfunctions or needed repairs.

  • Maintains proper records/documentation of sterile processing, inventory, usage, and damage reports, all essential for infection prevention compliance. Manages EH&S inspections of sterile processes.

  • Collaborates with leadership in the planning, operation, and training for the sterile processing function. Oversees, coordinates and assigns duties. Makes recommendations for improvement in the quality of service

  • Coordinates the maintenance of space, equipment, and supplies.

  • Trains others in the proper processing and handling of instruments and scopes.
