Overview
Reprocesses instruments using high level disinfection (HLD) or sterilization techniques according to manufacturers instructions for use (IFU). Work is completed in a collaborative, team based environment. Performs biological and chemical testing on HLD and sterilization equipment. Monitors instrument and supply inventory. Assists in the maintenance of a safe environment and promotes efficiency of operations. Demonstrates commitment to maintaining and improving departmental/unit standards of care and practice.

Responsibilities
  • Reprocesses instruments using high level disinfection or sterilization techniques.
  • Maintains an adequate supply of sterile and non-sterile supplies for the department.
  • Maintains an adequate inventory of surgical instruments.
  • Performs daily biological and chemical testing, changes graphs and tapes and maintains records on all sterilizers.
  • Performs secretary/clerical functions.
  • Assists in the maintenance of a safe environment and promotes efficiency of operations.

Qualifications
  • HS diploma or equivalent and 1-2 years experience 1 year experience required and 2 years preferred. Previous experience as a sterile technician in another area of a hospital such as materials management or GI lab.

Starting Pay
Our pay ranges are market competitive. The pay range for this job begins at $19.68/hr, but your offer will be determined based on your education and experience.
Remote Work/Work from Home
This position is not eligible to work remotely, which means that the person hired will be required to work onsite at one of our Children's Mercy locations and may not work from home.
