Job description

Surgical Technologist / Sterile Processing Technologist

Job Type: Full-Time

Work Setting: Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC)

Job Location: Atlanta, GA

Key Responsibilities:

Surgical Technologist Duties

  • Prepare operating and procedure rooms for scheduled cases.

  • Gather instruments, equipment, and supplies according to surgeon preference cards and procedure requirements.

  • Establish and maintain sterile fields throughout procedures.

  • Anticipate physician and surgical team needs during procedures and provide instruments and supplies as needed.

  • Maintain accurate instrument, sponge, and supply counts with nursing staff.

  • Assist with specimen handling and proper labeling procedures.

  • Assist with patient positioning and procedural preparation.

  • Operate surgical equipment and imaging equipment, including C-Arm, when applicable.

  • Clean and prepare procedure rooms between cases.

  • Restock supplies and ensure procedure rooms remain organized and ready for use.

Sterile Processing Duties:

  • Collect and transport contaminated instruments and equipment safely to decontamination areas.

  • Perform instrument decontamination using manual cleaning methods and ultrasonic washers.

  • Inspect, assemble, package, and sterilize surgical instruments and trays.

  • Operate autoclaves and other sterilization equipment according to manufacturer guidelines and infection control standards.

  • Track, label, and maintain sterilization records and documentation.

  • Inspect instruments for functionality, damage, and cleanliness.

  • Maintain sterile inventory levels and supply organization.

  • Assist with inventory control and ordering of sterile processing supplies.

  • Coordinate preventative maintenance and service of equipment as needed.

Qualifications:

Required

  • Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist or Sterile Processing program, or equivalent relevant experience.

  • Surgical Technologist and/or Sterile Processing experience.

  • Current BLS/CPR certification (or ability to obtain).

  • Strong understanding of sterile technique and infection prevention practices.

  • Orthopedic, Spine, Neurology, Neurosurgery, or Pain Management experience.

Preferred

  • Experience in an Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC).

  • Sterile Processing certification.

  • Prior Surgical Technologist experience.

  • Experience with C-Arm operation.

  • Experience scrubbing into surgical procedures.
