The Stainless-Steel Shop Manager responsibilities include, but are not limited to, managing the day-to-day operation of the steel trade's shop including safety, leadership, production, materials, and quality assurance over the course of the fabrication process.

• Ensure safety compliance and adherence to OSHA, VOSHA, and ACI safety standards, including safety meetings, corrective actions, administering aid, investigating accidents, and reporting on safety matters.
• Set goals related to scheduling and assign workloads to shop foremen/leaders to meet production goals.
• Start up and man a second shift, including assigning workload goals and leadership delegation.
• Review incoming work for errors, viability of manufacturing, ordering, and safety; enter work via CNC/CAM program for shop equipment and/or tracking software as needed.
• Manage stainless-steel pipe shop production and tracking reports.
• Maintain scheduling for work in progress and communicate changes to the appropriate operational team members; serve as main point of contact for external scheduling changes/priorities.
• Order materials and consumables as necessary, including gathering quotes, placing orders, writing purchase orders, tracking orders, billing, and updating statuses; meet with vendors to obtain best value.
• Evaluate and manage manpower needs, including hiring and applying disciplinary measures to promote a viable workforce.
• Manage shop time, including temp labor, time tracking, and billing.
• Oversee shop equipment and tools, including tool accounts, rentals, repairs, maintenance schedules, tool lists, and budgeting for new equipment.
• Oversee inter-trade QA/QC standards to ensure compliance and implement corrective actions as needed.
• Lead the shop team to improve safety, efficiency, time management, and materials usage; collaborate with the Fabrication manager on improvements.
• Provide ongoing training and development in leadership practices as needed.
• Evaluate and conduct year-end reviews of workers.
• May contribute to smaller spot estimates and estimate verifications.
• May attend turnover, kickoff, prefab, schedule, production, and planning meetings as applicable.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Yes

• 10+ years of combined education and/or experience in stainless steel piping or related field.
• Experience with leading teams.
• Proficient in reading construction drawings (blueprints).
• Experience in looking up job specifications and submittals.
• Excellent math and writing skills.
• Proficient computer skills in 3 or more of the following: CAD, CAM, CNC, Bluebeam, M-Suite, Build Centrix, Vista, or Microsoft Office.
• Able to read simple Gantt charts or other construction schedules.
• Understanding of shop equipment and related maintenance upkeep.
• General understanding of the necessary trade codes and best practices.
• Must adhere to all company policy and procedures.
• Must be available to work assigned schedules.

• Works in a shop/manufacturing environment.
• May work in varying temperatures inside and outside, including inclement weather, heat, humidity, cold and dampness.
• Exposure to moderate/high noise levels.
• May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles including dust.
• May be required to work in confined spaces or from high heights.

• Site visits may involve walking through existing buildings, industrial plants and/or construction sites with stairs and ladders on multiple floors/levels.
• May use construction equipment, heavy machinery, hand and power tools, including powered machinery.
• May work aloft, climb, bend, reach overhead, stand/walk for long periods, and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Frequent hand use to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms.
• Must be able to identify colors of color-coded cables/wires and have close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

• May require travel (typically not required or overnight).

• Trades education certificate, Journeyman, or an Associate’s degree in a related field.
• Prior Military experience.
• Prior management experience.
• HS diploma or GED equivalent.
