POSITION SUMMARY

The Production Supervisor oversees production, quality, and documentation for structural steel projects as a part of Hillsdale Fabricators, a premier structural steel fabricator and erector. This role contributes to the companyโ€™s long-standing reputation for delivering complex steel structures with exceptional precision, safety, and quality.

Essential Responsibilities & Duties include the following; however, other duties may be assigned.   • Monitors activities and equipment to isolate and correct any work that is not within Code requirements.
  • Understands all Quality Control procedures and principles as stated in the โ€œNew Employee Orientation Packageโ€ and the โ€œHillsdale Quality Policy Manualโ€ and affirms the companyโ€™s commitment to this program.
  • Works with the Quality Control Manager to determine the best methods of repairing work found not to be meeting Code requirements.
  • Works with Production Manager to determine most productive and efficient means and methods to fabricate steel meeting quality guidelines.
  • Assigns and monitors work in appointed areas to assure that quality work is performed in accordance with the fabrication schedule.
  • Directs work assignments.
  • Checks quality of the material prep work performed by the employees under his/her direction.
  • Supervises the completion of the material prep work according to the project schedules.
  • Properly utilizes steel inventory according to shop procedures and reports utilization on a daily basis to inventory control clerk.
  • Generates bar code labels using FabTrol program.
  • Provides updated tracking information to Project Management Team to track progress.
  • Create written work plans for all projects, working with the Production Manager to determine how the work will be performed. Reviews written work plans with shop workforce as required.
  • Participates in Project meetings, including, but not limited to kick-off meetings, production meetings and closeout meetings.
  • Travels to Company and subsidiary offices; offsite client, subcontractor, and supplier meetings; and other locations across North America to fulfill the essential duties of the role as required.
  • Exhibits regular and reliable attendance in person as required by the Supervisor, Company guidelines, and/or project and office obligations.

Management Responsibilities

Supervises between 20 and 40 Union Workers within a specific Shop Department. This includes disciplinary measures per the collective bargaining agreement with the local Union.

Education and Experience

Associate degree and 3-5 yearsโ€™ related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. OSHA 30 hour within 1-month of hiring. CWI desired.
