Job description

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Accurately identify and sort different types of metal materials (e.g., aluminum, copper, brass, stainless steel, steel, etc.) based on grade.
  • Inspect incoming materials to ensure they meet company specifications.
  • Greet and assist retail customers and manage incoming loads through the use of industry software.
  • Ensure material is properly weighed, tagged, documented and placed in designated containers or storage areas.
  • Handle inbound ticketing.
  • Operate basic hand tools, magnets, and testing equipment to determine metal type and quality.
  • Support material preparation and truck unloading activities.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
  • Work safely and with integrity.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working in a scrap metal recycling facility.
  • At least 1 full year of verifiable experience related to grading non-ferrous scrap metal for recycling.
  • Basic computer and tablet ability.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and procedure manuals.

Physical Requirements:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, lift, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, or bend.
  • Must be able to stand for significant lengths of time in an industrial environment with exposure to all elements of weather
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
