  • Produce and/or check erection plans, member details, assembly drawings, single-part drawings, and bills of material.
  • Verify member sizes, material grades, piece marks, dimensions, elevations, slopes, orientations, and connection details.
  • Check bolt and weld requirements, hole sizes, edge distances, cope dimensions, camber, fit-up, clearances, and fabrication tolerances.
  • Confirm consistency among erection drawings, detail drawings, bills of material, material lists, and project revisions.
  • Identify conflicts, missing information, and constructability concerns; prepare clear RFIs when clarification is required.

  • Maintain organized drawing files, revision records, transmittals, and approval documentation.
  • Follow company detailing, checking, quality, and document-control standards.
  • Help improve checklists and processes that reduce errors, rework, and field issues.

  • Proficiency with structural steel detailing software and PDF markup tools.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with the AISC Code of Standard Practice and applicable industry standards.
  • Experience detailing or checking commercial, industrial, or institutional structural steel projects.

  • Questions and conflicts are identified early and communicated clearly.
  • Revisions are tracked and incorporated correctly.
  • Shop and field issues caused by detailing errors are minimized.
  • Project teams receive dependable, timely technical support.
