Job description

Machine Operator (Cut to Length/Sheeting Line)

Steel service center in Bryan, Ohio seeks an experienced machine operator to run cut to length line. Candidates with at least two years of experience working as a machine operator will be considered. Cut to length/sheeting experience very helpful but not necessary. Any mechanically-inclined manufacturing machine operator will be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate sheeting line to cut metal coils into sheets of specified length
  • Maintain machinery and run production of such equipment within quality and customer specifications while prioritizing safety
  • Responsible and accountable for proper operation of line, including set-ups, maintenance, adjustments, change-overs.
  • Ability to diagnose quality problems while keeping spoilage and delays to a minimum
  • Performs housekeeping tasks to keep aisles and work areas clean and free of safety hazards.
  • Responsible for completing all reports and records related to production, change-overs, and scrap material

Requirements

  • Excellent work attendance record, ability to report to work as scheduled and flexibility to work overtime as assigned.
  • Knowledge of tin mill products a plus, but not necessary.
  • Problem solving skills and the ability to diagnose mechanical and quality problems
  • Detail-oriented with ability to inspect material for quality conformance through the use of measuring devices.
  • Basic literacy and math skills required
  • Ability to prioritize and focus while multitasking

Physical Requirements

  • Work for 8 hours while standing or walking
  • Work in various positions, including, but not limited to, stooping, standing, bending over, sitting, kneeling and squatting for extended periods of time
  • Use hands to handle objects, tools, or controls
  • Lift and/or move not more than 35 pounds of weight frequently throughout assigned workday
  • Work while wearing hearing protection, gloves, and other PPE as required
