Job description

Role: Steel Construction Project Manager (Structural Steel Fabrication)

Location: Indianapolis, IN
Work Type: Full-Time | On-Site
Compensation: Competitive Salary

About the Role

Seeking an experienced Steel Construction Project Manager to oversee the planning, execution, and completion of structural steel construction projects. This role is responsible for coordinating with internal departments, subcontractors, and project stakeholders while managing projects from estimating through closeout, ensuring schedules, budgets, quality, and client expectations are met.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee the planning, execution, and completion of steel construction projects.

  • Coordinate with the estimator, accounting department, purchasing manager, detailers, shop foreman, subcontractors, and other internal and external project stakeholders.

  • Attend site visits and jobsite meetings as needed; minimal travel may be required.

  • Communicate effectively with owners, architects, engineers, contractors, detailers, and erectors to plan and deliver projects on time.

  • Review construction and fabrication drawings and coordinate detailing review.

  • Support estimating, sales, project turnover, contract review, purchasing coordination, scheduling, and subcontract management.

  • Manage multiple priorities while staying proactive, organized, and solution-oriented.

  • Utilize basic knowledge of Tekla/BIM software to support project coordination and review.

Requirements
  • 5+ years of Construction Project Management experience.

  • 5+ years of Structural Steel Project Management experience preferred.

  • Ability to interpret construction and fabrication drawings.

  • Excellent communication, leadership, organization, and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong multitasking ability with a proactive project management approach.

  • Basic knowledge of Tekla/BIM software preferred.

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.

  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Construction preferred.

Client Expectations
  • Must have recent hands-on Project Management experience in the structural steel industry.

  • Strong background managing steel fabrication and erection projects from start to finish.

  • Ability to coordinate with estimators, detailers, shop operations, subcontractors, and field teams.

  • Comfortable reviewing fabrication drawings and working with Tekla/BIM.

  • Strong communication skills with owners, architects, engineers, and general contractors.

  • Experience managing project schedules, purchasing, contracts, and subcontractors.
