Job description

Reports to: Head of Project Management / Director of Operations

Environment: Both in our Belmont, NC office and out in the field in the Carolina's.

Structural Steel Fabrication Industry

***This is not an IT Project Manager role. This role require previous Structural Steel Fabrication or Structural Steel Construction experience, in a role primarily managing structural steel construction & fabrication projects, to be considered.

What you will do:

Oversee all aspects of the planning & execution phases of assigned projects, to ensure they are completed on time, within budget and scope. Be the single point of contact from initial turnover through project closeout for any internal & external entities, specifically involved in assigned projects.

  • Ensure our fabrication department is given all project requirements, including any special quality requirements.
  • Work in close relation to all customers to ensure satisfaction with work performed, notifying customers of any delay and reasoning. Resolving issues & notifying leadership when necessary.
  • Attend weekly Production meetings to ensure internal teams have most recent information & schedules.
  • Review all documents & notify necessary internal & external teams that may be impacted by changes to drawings or scope of work.
  • Write Change Orders as needed (having the GC, sign or officially write SSI a revision to our subcontract). Work is only to be performed if GC has issued in writing to proceed or issued a written change order.
  • Schedule & coordinator deliveries of Structural Steel, Bar Joist, Metal Deck and Miscellaneous Steel.
  • Coordinate erection with Erectors. Collaborate with Contractor to ensure all field issues are resolved timely and cost-effectively.
  • Develop schedules and durations. Ensure all documentation is obtained, completed, and filed appropriately.
  • Invoice customers & check on outstanding invoices.
Who you are:

  • Excel with planning, time management, execution, and initiative.
What youโ€™ll need:
  • Bachelor's in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 3-5 years managing structural / miscellaneous steel or commercial construction projects from turnover through closeout, serving as the single point of contact with GC, erector, and internal teams.
  • Hands on change management & contract administration.
  • Scheduling & logistics expertise: building/updating project schedules, coordinating fabrication needs, weekly production meeting inputs & deliveries, etc.
  • Clear, proactive communication with customers & stakeholders; promptly notify parties effected of delays. Drive issue resolution.
  • Strong blueprint/spec and document control proficiency; comfortable with Procore/Bluebeam, MS Project, Excel.
  • Organized, detail- and safety-focused; ensure scope, budget, schedule, and quality objectives are met.
