The Field Steel Building Repair Technician is a hands-on member of the field repair team responsible for inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing, and completing corrective work on pre-engineered metal buildings at customer and project sites throughout the United States.

The technician will work as part of a field repair team under the direction of a designated Team Lead on every assigned job. Team members must follow the Team Lead’s work plan, safety instructions, repair procedures, and job-site expectations.

This position performs repairs identified during building inspections, customer service visits, warranty reviews, and project closeout assessments. Work may include repairing roof and wall panels, replacing trim and fasteners, correcting leaks, applying sealants, repairing damaged components, completing punch-list items, and resolving installation or fabrication concerns.

This is not a shop-only position. The technician must be comfortable traveling, climbing ladders, operating aerial lifts, walking and working on metal roofs, and performing physical work at elevated heights in changing weather conditions.

The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-focused, mechanically skilled, and able to assess a problem, support the repair plan, and complete quality work as part of a team.

• Work as part of an assigned field repair team on every project.

• Follow the direction of the designated Team Lead throughout each job.

• Participate in job briefings, safety discussions, repair planning, and daily work assignments.

• Communicate job-site concerns, repair challenges, material needs, and safety issues to the Team Lead.

• Support other team members to complete repairs safely, correctly, and on schedule.

• Do not make changes to the approved repair plan without direction from the Team Lead or appropriate leadership.

• Maintain professional conduct and represent Southeast Steel Systems well at customer locations.

• High school diploma or equivalent.

• Previous experience repairing, erecting, installing, or maintaining metal buildings, metal roofing systems, structural steel, or similar construction systems.

• Ability to identify and repair problems involving metal roofs, wall panels, trim, fasteners, sealants, flashing, and related building components.

• Ability to read and understand blueprints, building plans, repair instructions, inspection reports, and technical drawings.

• Experience using hand tools, power tools, and field construction equipment.

• Ability to climb ladders and work safely on roofs and elevated surfaces.

• Ability to work from aerial lifts, scaffolding, and other access equipment.

• Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.

• Must be able to meet company vehicle insurance requirements when operating a company vehicle.

• Ability to work as part of a field repair team and follow the direction of the assigned Team Lead.

• Ability and willingness to travel extensively throughout the United States.

• Ability to stay overnight and remain at remote job sites for several days when required.

• Ability to work outside in heat, cold, wind, sun, and changing weather conditions.

• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to complete assigned work with limited supervision.

• Clear communication skills and the ability to work effectively with team members, leadership, customers, and other job-site partners.
