The Role
Develop and implement program quality plans, programs, and procedures using statistical quality control statistics, lean manufacturing concepts, and six-sigma tools and analyses. Ensures that performance and quality products conform to established company and regulatory standards. Reviews, analyzes and reports on quality discrepancies related to assembly, process, mechanical, electrical and electro-mechanical systems. Investigates problems and develops disposition and corrective actions for recurring discrepancies. Interfaces with manufacturing, engineering, customer, vendor and subcontractor representatives to ensure requirements are met. Recommends corrective actions, dispositions and modifications.
NNS Quality Assurance Engineering (Structural) is seeking an experienced Quality Analyst to join us in supporting welding/NDT/fitting/forming processes within NNS. This individual will be expected to perform/be proficient in the following:
• Collaborates with engineering and manufacturing functions to ensure quality standards are in place.
• Investigates problems and develops disposition and corrective actions for recurring discrepancies.
• Develops, modifies, applies and maintains quality evaluation/control systems and protocols for procedures.
• Audits quality systems for deficiency identification and correction.
• Ensures that corrective measures meet acceptable reliability standards and that documentation is compliant with requirements.
• Performs deckplate surveillance to ensure processes conform to established standards.
• Candidates should have a questioning attitude, desire to learn and solve problems while collaborating with personnel at all levels and within different functional areas of the company.
• May specialize in the areas of design, manufacturing, incoming material, production control, product evaluation and reliability, inventory control, and/or research and development as they apply to product or process quality.
• May be certified in lean and six-sigma quality engineering methodologies.
Must Have
Bachelor's Degree and 10 years of relevant exempt experience; Master's Degree and 8 year of relevant professional experience
One of the following may be used as equivalent to Bachelor's Degree to meet minimum qualifications:
  • NNS Apprentice School graduate
  • Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate
  • Associate's Degree or other formal 2 year program and 2 years of relevant exempt experience or 4 years of relevant non-exempt experience
  • Military Paygrade E-5 or above military experience
  • High School/GED and 4 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant exempt experience
  • High School/GED and 8 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant non-exempt experience

Nice to Have
• Strong working knowledge of problem solving, root cause analysis, and process management (e.g., Process Mapping and FMEA)
• Process improvement experience a plus.
• Demonstrated knowledge of Quality processes (e.g. certification, testing) and ISO 9000 application to Military, DOE, shipbuilding
• Experience with Technical Publications and Navy Welding Specifications (i.e. TP 1688, TP 278, TP 248, etc)
• Heavy steel manufacturing experience (forming, bending, casting, fitting, welding, etc.) a plus
• Demonstrated knowledge of Agile, Knowledge Management, and/or Systems Methodologies
• LEAN, Six Sigma, CI methodologies, and/or Certified Green or Black Belt
