Job Position Description:

KRDO13 is seeking a Chief Meteorologist to lead a talented weather team at the market's #1 station. This is a high-profile role alongside an experienced anchor team with the opportunity to shape how weather coverage is delivered across our platforms.

We take severe weather seriously andwe'relooking for a leader who can own that responsibility.The right candidate brings a strong, distinctive on-air presence and a personal brand that resonates with viewers.

This position requires someone who always leads by example on and off camera.The Chief Meteorologist must be able to work with staff of all levels in high pressure situations. The Chief will be expected to mentor the weather team, provide direct and actionablefeedback,and foster a culture of growth.

As a key partner to the News Director, the Chief Meteorologist will help define strategy andnew approachesto weather coverage.We'relooking for someone who embraces change and leads the weather team to execute ata high levelevery day.

Required Responsibilities:

  • Always be a good teammate and lead by example.
  • Deliver live forecasts from the studio and from an outdoor deck daily.
  • Ensure communication and consistency with forecasts across all shifts.
  • Regularly produce content for station and professional digital platforms.
  • Provide ongoing feedback to weather staff.
  • Schedule regular weather team meetings.
  • Attend daily editorial meetings for weather updates and work closely with news managers and producers.
  • Build and manage the weather team schedule.
  • Ability to be on call 24/7 and shift schedule with short notice for coverage needs.
  • Regularlyparticipatein station events and represent the station in the community outside of regular work hours.

Required qualifications:

  • 8+ years as a Broadcast Meteorologist
  • Meteorology degree
  • Leadership experience
  • Pass a drug test and background check
  • Possess a valid driver's license
