State Tax Manager
Exciting opportunity for a State Tax Manager, located at our corporate headquarters in Lancaster, PA. The State Tax Manager will be responsible for managing state income tax issues and reporting including compliance, strategy and supporting related financial statement reporting for Armstrong Flooring's global business. In addition, the State Tax Manager will support the major Tax Department processes for domestic compliance and planning.
Essential Functions of the Job:
  • Provide leadership on state tax planning projects including analysis, documentation, and presentation of conclusions.
  • Review and oversee the state tax provision process
  • Lead identification and resolution of FIN 48 issues
  • Preparation and review of valuation allowance analysis
  • Review and oversight of the income tax accounts and effective tax rate
  • Develop responses to audit requests related to Armstrong Flooring and its subsidiaries
  • Review of apportionment reports for sales, property, and payroll factors supporting state returns and planning initiatives
  • Review of federal and state income tax returns
  • Review of quarterly estimate payments and extensions
  • Support and implement process improvement initiatives within the Tax Department
  • Identification and analysis of income tax law changes
  • Performance of all necessary research and analysis in areas of responsibility, as required
  • Assist with data requests and analysis relating to Armstrong Flooring's global business
  • Ensure compliance with all required filing, mandates, and law changes
  • Ensure compliance with tax notices by assisting with the review of notices and maintenance of the tax notice database
  • Identification of tax credit opportunities
  • Supervise tax department staff and outside consultants
  • Assist with Sarbanes Oxley compliance, data management, and organization efforts within the Tax Dept

Required Qualifications:
  • B.S. or B.A.in Accounting or Business Administration
  • 7+ years of relevant tax experience in either public accounting or a corporate tax department
  • Strong analytical and verbal/written communication skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, professional environment
  • Experience with corporate tax software and tax research products
  • Experience with Microsoft Office with an emphasis on Microsoft Excel

Preferred Qualifications:
  • CPA
  • International income tax experience a plus
  • Experience with SAP and Hyperion a plus
  • Experience with ONESOURCE Income Tax and Tax Provision software

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Demonstrated hands-on approach and success in working in a team-based environment
  • Process improvement acumen
