KOMAN Sustainable Solutions has a lucrative career opportunity for a Construction Superintendent with federal contracting experience to support our projects in Del Rio, TX. Superintendent must have direct experience overseeing construction activities on federal government contracts (USACE, NAVFAC, VA, etc.)

What does the position do?

  • Support proposal efforts by developing constructability models for project execution in conjunction with estimating and project controls.
  • Must be able to reads and understand construction specifications, engineering drawings and the project scope of work.
  • Supports the Project Manager to develop and lead an Integrated Project Team to include project stakeholders throughout the life of the project ensuring objectives are well defined, communicated and managed from start to finish in accordance with the contractual and client requirements.
  • Support preparation of work plans and other project-related documentation after award.
  • Plans and directs all construction activities on the project after award.
  • Obtain construction permits from local authorities needed during work performance.
  • Supervises and mentors all field staff and provides constructive feedback.
  • Oversee the construction activities of subcontractors and communicate frequently with subcontractor supervisors regarding schedule and progress; and use information to provide updates to the overall construction schedule.
  • Coordinate and work with PMO functional leads regarding all labor needs as well as procurement for necessary materials and equipment for the project. Ensure materials and equipment are scheduled for arrival and use during scheduled phases.
  • Develop, update and manage the overall construction schedule as well as the "three week" look ahead schedules and review them with the project team, subcontractors, and clients during weekly meetings.
  • Engages weekly with Project Controls to track project schedule and budgets.
  • Establishes a safe work environment, facilitates safety meetings, and works with the site Safety Officer to document safety concerns and achieve resolution.
  • Ability to act as competent person in the areas of excavation/trenching, scaffolding, fall protection, cranes and confined space.
  • Maintains clear communication channel with clients and the project team and resolves problems as they arise.
  • Plan, implement and engage in required inspections during construction and work with QCM to ensure quality requirements are met and necessary documentation prepared and submitted.
  • Implement safety and quality guidelines and ensure scheduled dates are met for each.
  • Procures the appropriate heavy equipment and ensure regular maintenance schedules and daily inspections are performed.
  • Communicates with clients and internal team on project progress during weekly scheduled progress meetings.
  • Produces accurate and detailed daily reports and uploads to project records retention platform as required.

What will top candidates bring to the table?

  • Minimum 10 years of construction experience required for the Project Superintendent.
  • At least 5 of those years must be as a superintendent on projects of similar size and complexity.
  • Must be familiar with EM 385-1-1 safety requirements.
  • Must have experience in hazard identification and safety compliance.
  • Must be able to interpret critical path schedules and construction drawings.
  • The alternate superintendent must meet the same qualification requirements as the primary superintendent. The Contracting Officer may request proof of the superintendents qualifications at any time if performance is in question.
