Traveling Superintendent - Commercial Traveling Superintendent
Position Overview
We are seeking a results-driven Traveling Superintendent to oversee multiple construction projects with a focus on HVAC systems and overall site supervision. The Traveling Superintendent will travel between job sites, manage crews and subcontractors, ensure quality work and safety compliance, maintain schedules and budgets, and serve as the primary on-site representative for the company. This role requires strong construction and superintendent experience, HVAC knowledge, excellent communication skills, and the flexibility to travel regularly to regional commercial and industrial sites.
Key Responsibilities
  • Travel regularly to assigned project sites to provide hands-on supervision and leadership throughout construction phases.
  • Coordinate and supervise onsite trades, with an emphasis on HVAC scope, ensuring work aligns with drawings, specifications, schedules, and quality standards.
  • Manage subcontractors and labor resources, including scheduling, performance oversight, and enforcing contract requirements.
  • Conduct daily site inspections to monitor workmanship, progress, safety compliance, and material usage; document and report site conditions to project management.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, owners, and inspectors to resolve issues, approve submittals/RFI responses, and maintain project momentum.
  • Ensure compliance with safety programs and regulatory requirements, lead toolbox talks, and enforce company and OSHA safety policies.
  • Track progress against schedule and budget; identify risks and implement corrective actions to mitigate delays and cost overruns.
  • Prepare and maintain daily reports, progress photos, punch lists, turnover documentation, and assist in closeout activities and client walk-throughs.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Superintendent or similar supervisory role on construction projects, with demonstrable experience in HVAC installations and coordination.
  • Strong construction knowledge including reading plans, specifications, and construction means and methods.
  • Proven leadership skills with experience managing subcontractors, onsite crews, and multi-trade coordination.
  • Valid drivers license and willingness to travel frequently; ability to work at multiple job sites across the region or nationally as required.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; capable of interacting with owners, architects, engineers, and field personnel.
  • Familiarity with safety standards and certifications (e.g., OSHA 10/30) and a commitment to enforcing safe work practices.
  • Proficient with project documentation and reporting tools; experience with daily reports, RFIs, submittals, and scheduling software.
  • Nice to have: experience on commercial projects, knowledge of electrical systems, and/or General Contractor license or background.
