EMC Mechanical Services is looking for an Assistant Superintendent to join our Construction division!  The Assistant Superintendent supports the Superintendent in overseeing daily field operations on mechanical construction projects.  This role helps coordinate manpower, materials, and subcontractors to ensure work is performed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project schedules, drawings, and specifications.  The Assistant Superintendent serves as a key link between field crews, project managements, and general contractors to keep projects organized and moving forward.

What You’ll Do:

  • Support the Superintendent in managing daily field operations for HVAC, sheet metal, plumbing, and mechanical piping systems.
  • Ensure job sites are organized, safe, and ready for work at the start of each shift.
  • Review and help interpret construction drawings, specifications, and approved submittals.
  • Coordinate manpower and assist with planning daily and weekly labor needs.
  • Order, track, and verify materials in accordance with project specifications and schedules.
  • Monitor field progress to help keep projects on schedule and communicate potential issues.
  • Attend coordination meetings with the GC, subcontractors, and project teams as needed.
  • Supervise mechanics, apprentices, and helpers to ensure productivity, quality, and adherence to company standards.
  • Document field communication and follow up on key discussions with written communication when necessary.
  • Promote and enforce job-site safety standards, including PPE compliance and safe work practices.

What You’ll Bring:

  • A minimum of five years of relevant experience is required.
  • OSHA 30-hour certification is preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Fluent English verbal and written skills are required.
  • Driving Requirements
    • Must have a valid Virginia driver’s license.
    • Must have positive points on state driving record.
    • Must be at least 21 years of age unless company approval is granted.
    • Must not have had a DUI, DWI, or reckless driving conviction in the last five years.
    • All driving records are run as part of our pre-employment process and reviewed at the discretion of the Safety Team.
  • Physical Requirements
    • Must be able to crawl, kneel, squat, and climb. 
    • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis, unassisted. 
    • Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
