About the Team

ACCEL Schools Online is seeking a highly motivated Program Director dedicated to creating a rigorous and nurturing environment that prioritizes operational excellence, student engagement and academic achievement for all students.

ELIGIBILIY: Open to residents of North Carolina

The Program Director will assume ownership and responsibility for developing and supporting the school through a variety of operational and academic duties:

  • Lead the school team through launch and the first year of operations
  • Work collaboratively with the school's partner and authorizer
  • Oversee the following school functions: student records, local and state testing, attendance and truancy tracking and follow-up, personnel, office and finance and facilities.
  • Design and implement programs that foster meaningful family engagement to connect students and families across the miles
  • Act as a resource for internal (staff) and external (students and families) stakeholders by providing resolution and management of escalated needs across a variety of topics (school procedures, technology systems, materials, etc.)
  • Act as a liaison between school team members and members of the larger Accel team to identify operational and academic needs and develop school level procedures that align with the goals and procedures of the larger Accel organization
  • Stay up to date on department of education and sponsor policies and compliance items and state educational laws
  • Guide teachers in the effective use of instructional and support materials for full implementation of all areas of the curriculum
  • Perform frequent teacher observations and debriefs
  • Provide effective feedback, professional development and coaching for teachers in mastering instructional practices
  • Use multiple sources of data collection to analyze barriers to student achievement and to access, identify and apply to instructional improvement
  • Monitor the use of student achievement data from multiple sources (including standardized tests, LMS data, curriculum-based assessments, classroom assessments and other data) to inform instruction
  • Coordinate special projects, such as Climb Higher Projects, outdoor experiences, service learning and community involvement
  • Ensure that students in all special programs receive appropriate services and that the school is in full compliance with state and federal laws
  • Perform other duties as assigned

About You

  • Must live in North Carolina
  • Master's degree in Education, Administration, or Organizational Leadership
  • Minimum of five years' experience as a successful teacher
  • Two years' experience as an Instructional Coach, Teacher Leader, or other related position in an online school strongly preferred
  • Track record of building positive working relationships with multiple stakeholders including staff members, students, parents, Board members, and authorizers
  • Demonstrated results in increasing student achievement on relevant state test measures
  • Knowledge of State Standards and Common Core Standards
  • Experience using multiple sources of data collection including standardized tests, portfolios, observations, conferences and grades to assess student performance and to plan instruction
  • Experience in public education accountability, compliance, and related legal requirements.
  • Strong professional written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure as well as effectively prioritize and execute tasks to meet deadlines consistently
  • Understanding of and ability to manage confidential information
  • Exemplary written and verbal communication
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite Products
  • Demonstrates a reliable, dependable, and trustworthy work ethic
  • Ability to make sound judgments after all available information has been gathered or communicated
  • Demonstrated leadership and management ability
  • Ability to learn new technologies and acquire new skills through independent study, professional training, and from more senior team members
