At Autism Care Partners (ACP), our mission is to empower families to reach their potential through early diagnosis and exceptional, innovative, interdisciplinary care. Our collaborative teams provide comprehensive care throughout all stages of a child's development by offering these services: Applied Behavior Analysis, Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Social Work, and Diagnostic Evaluations (service availability varies by location).
What you'll be doing at Autism Care Partners:
The Occupational Therapist is responsible for addressing the functional needs of the clients we serve related to adaptive development, adaptive behavior, play and sensory, motor and postural development. The overall goal for the Occupational Therapist is to improve clients' functional ability to perform tasks in home, school, and community settings.
  • Evaluate clients to establish a plan of care
  • Conduct annual reevaluations.
  • Develop long term goals and objectives as part of the plan of care for all clients, and update at the end of each authorization period.
  • Administer evidence-based therapy approaches.
  • Implement client-centered treatment sessions that promote client ability to perform basic functions necessary for an everyday routine.
  • Complete daily progress notes after client sessions which describe treatment given, progress observed, and patient response to treatment.
  • Submits a discharge summary from therapy, as needed.
  • Attend interdisciplinary team meetings
  • Maintains communication with therapy team (Board Certified Behavioral Analysts, Speech Language Pathologists, and Direct-Care Staff), parents/guardians, and billing department, as needed.
  • Supervise, instruct, and provide feedback to Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA), as needed.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Knowledge of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), specifically, in children.
  • Understanding of and ability to practice in accordance with agency policies and procedures.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in providing services and scheduling.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as be an effective multi-disciplinary team member.
  • Ability to physically adapt in response to the clients' movements and play.
  • Ability to lift children 20-50 pounds when necessary.
Education and Experience
  • Graduate from an accredited program in Occupational Therapy.
  • Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy.
  • Licensed and currently registered to practice Occupational Therapy in the State of RI.
  • Experience working with children aged 2-21 year olds.
