We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to support operations within a metals recycling facility. This role is responsible for maintaining, inspecting, and repairing critical industrial equipment including conveyors, belting systems, pumps, valves, motors, and metal separation machinery.
The ideal candidate will be hands-on, safety-focused, and experienced in industrial mechanical maintenance. You will perform preventative maintenance and troubleshooting to ensure equipment reliability and minimize downtime.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain conveyors, gearboxes, motors, pumps, and valves
  • Perform routine inspections and identify faulty or failing equipment
  • Lubricate and grease equipment on a scheduled basis
  • Read and interpret blueprints and ensure work meets required tolerances
  • Use hand tools, power tools, torches, and welding equipment safely and effectively
  • Fabricate and assemble metal structures and fixtures using welding and cutting equipment
  • Monitor welding and fabrication processes to prevent distortion, warping, or material damage
  • Preheat materials as required using torches or heating equipment
  • Follow all safety procedures including LOTO (Lockout/Tagout), rigging protocols, and confined space requirements
  • Attend daily shift meetings to prioritize work orders and reduce downtime
  • Maintain accurate maintenance logs, reports, and activity summaries
  • Keep work areas clean, organized, and safe at all times
  • Continuously improve mechanical knowledge through training and industry resources
  • Perform minor repairs using grinders, cutting torches, and welding tools

Required Skills & Abilities
  • Minimum 3 years of industrial maintenance experience
  • Ability to read tape measures and interpret blueprints
  • Experience operating tele-handlers, forklifts, scissor lifts, and high-reach equipment
  • Proficient with hand tools, power tools, and specialized maintenance equipment
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Effective communication skills
  • Strong understanding of workplace safety standards and regulations

Education & Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Working knowledge of OSHA standards and industrial safety practices
  • Experience with rigging and mobile equipment operation preferred

Work Environment & Physical Requirements
  • Work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, snow)
  • Required PPE includes safety glasses, steel-toe boots, gloves, and high-visibility vest
  • Hearing protection and additional PPE provided as needed
  • Work may require evenings, weekends, and varying shifts
  • Frequent physical activity including stooping, bending, walking, and standing
  • Confined space entry and respirator use may be required
