Job description

About Voters of Tomorrow

Voters of Tomorrow is a political movement for young people and by young people. With the guiding goal of building youth political power, Voters of Tomorrow has a presence in over 25 states and volunteers in all 50. Backed by extensive research on Gen Z, we're taking the issues Gen Z cares about most into the rooms where decisions get made. Through extensive advocacy, on-the-ground and online organizing, and a nationwide network of Gen Z organizers and activists, we're making sure that as the most diverse generation, we are represented and spoken for.

Overview of Role

Fellows will work with Field Organizers to build a movement on campus, creating excitement around the 2026 elections and mobilizing young voters to the polls. This is an excellent opportunity to get an inside look at how political organizing works, while contributing to a crucial Iowa election.

The role will start ASAP and run through the election. Fellows will spend 10-15 hours a week talking to students about the issues that matter most to their generation. Tactics include high-traffic canvassing, door-to-door canvassing, and class and student organization visits. The position is based at University of Northern Iowa and requires a significant amount of in-person work.

This is a paid fellowship at $1,000/month, classified as a 1099 contractor position.

Responsibilities
  • Talk with students one-on-one and in groups about the stakes of the 2026 election, including reproductive rights, climate change, democracy, and economic justice
  • Conduct high-traffic canvassing and tabling on campus to engage students and build interest
  • Knock doors to reach students where they live and have direct conversations about voting
  • Visit classes and student organizations to introduce the campaign and recruit new supporters
  • Help build excitement and momentum for the campus organizing program ahead of the election
  • Plan and execute fun, engaging events that educate students about the upcoming elections and empower them to organize their peers
  • Recruit, train and support volunteers to carry out the work of mobilizing their peers
Requirements
  • Have a passion for civic engagement and inspiring young people to get involved
  • Be excited to think outside the box and ideate on the most exciting and effective get-out-the-vote tactics
  • Be eager to talk to as many students as possible, and be comfortable talking to a lot of strangers and potential volunteers
  • Be scrappy and flexible, able to manage several tasks simultaneously
  • Be a self-starter, exceptionally well-organized, and have strong time management skills
  • Be enrolled at University of Northern Iowa

Voters of Tomorrow is an equal opportunity employer. We welcome all applicants regardless of age, citizenship, gender identity or expression, national origin, pregnancy status, race, religion, sexual orientation, veteran status, or any other differences.
