Job description

Friendship is looking for a Full-Time Material Handler. The Material Handler is responsible for responsible for tracking receipt, storage and issuance of materials, equipment and supplies used at Friendship. 

Location:

  • South Campus - 5647 Starkey Road, Roanoke, VA 24018
  • Richfield Campus - 3719 Knollridge Road, Salem, VA 24153

Pay:

  • $16 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Frontline customer service
  • Maintain inventory of medical supplies and equipment for 253-bed skilled nursing facility
  • Effectively communicate with vendors to resolve supply/equipment issues
  • Receive, record and deliver parcels to multiple departments throughout building
  • Replenish nursing unit supply rooms weekly
  • Light troubleshooting of durable medical equipment
  • Assist with charging out supplies for billing purposes via supply charge-capture system
  • Disburse petty cash as needed and maintain accurate record of disbursements
  • Serve as back-up to the Materials - Support Services personnel when needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Essential Functions:       

  • Adhere to purchasing guidelines and schedules
  • Effectively maintain inventories and ensure items are transported to appropriate destinations
  • Ensure confidential documents/items are transported safely and in compliance with facility policies and procedure

Qualifications:

  • Must possess basic computer skills and be familiar with basic office equipment
  • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear, lift, move, walk and drive. The employee is frequently required to walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
  • Must be able to lift or move items weighing 30 lbs. regularly; must also be able to move items in excess of 50 lbs. intermittently with the assistance of appropriate tools (i.e. dolly)

Education & Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Valid Driver’s License in the state of Virginia with a clean driving record
