Stand Manager information

What is a stand manager?

A Stand Manager is responsible for overseeing the operations of a concession stand, booth, or kiosk, often at venues such as stadiums, fairs, or events. Their duties typically include managing staff, ensuring quality customer service, handling inventory, and maintaining cleanliness and safety standards. Stand Managers also handle cash transactions, restock supplies as needed, and may be responsible for opening and closing the stand. Strong organizational and leadership skills are important for this role. They play a key role in creating a positive customer experience and ensuring efficient stand operations.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a stand manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Stand Manager, you need strong organizational skills, retail or food service experience, and often a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with point-of-sale (POS) systems, inventory management tools, and basic food safety certifications are typically required for the role. Excellent customer service, leadership, and problem-solving abilities help you stand out in managing staff and serving customers efficiently. These skills and qualifications ensure smooth operations, satisfied customers, and effective team performance in a fast-paced retail or event environment.

What are some common challenges faced by stand managers during large events, and how can they be addressed?

Stand Managers often face challenges such as managing high customer volumes, ensuring consistent product quality, and coordinating staff during peak times. To address these, it's important to have clear team roles, efficient inventory systems, and proactive communication with event organizers. Successful Stand Managers also adapt quickly to changing circumstances and maintain a positive, solution-oriented attitude to keep operations running smoothly.

  • People and Culture leadership: Protect and model 7 Brew culture, mission, and values across all assigned stands through visible leadership, coaching, and accountability.

  • People Development: Coach, teach, and develop Stand Managers, Shift Leads, and high-potential team members to build bench strength and succession plans.

  • Performance Management: Review stand-level KPIs (sales, labor, throughput, service, quality, and retention), identify trends, and execute improvement plans.

  • Guest Experience Execution: Ensure every stand delivers a fast, accurate, high-energy customer experience that reflects the 7 Brew brand.

  • Labor and Throughput Optimization: Partner with leaders on scheduling, deployment, and labor decisions that balance efficiency with speed of service.

  • Stand Readiness and Standards: Maintain excellence in cleanliness, equipment readiness, product execution, and operational routines across all assigned stands.

  • Maintenance and Compliance Accountability: Hold teams accountable to maintenance processes, food safety standards, policies, and operational compliance requirements.

  • Hiring and Talent Pipeline Support: Partner with recruiting and operations leadership to support hiring efforts, staffing plans, and leadership readiness for growth.

  • New Stand Opening Support: Support NSOs and ramp periods by helping train, coach, and stabilize operations while reinforcing standards and culture.

  • Cross-Functional Communication: Serve as a key communication bridge between stand teams and corporate support functions to ensure quick follow-through and alignment.

WORK SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS

  • This is a full-time position that requires regular in-person presence at assigned stand locations.

  • Frequent local and regional travel up to 90% is required within North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia based on business needs.

  • Schedule flexibility is required, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays, to support stand operations and team development.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3+ years of multi-unit operations leadership experience in foodservice, retail, hospitality, or another high-volume, customer-facing environment preferred.

  • Strong understanding of stand operations, including the ability to coach execution at the Brewista, Shift Lead, and Manager levels.

  • Proven ability to build teams, develop leaders, and create accountability while maintaining a positive, people-first culture.

  • Strong business acumen and comfort using operational and financial metrics to make decisions and improve performance.

  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills across frontline teams, peers, and executive leadership.

  • Highly organized and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, growth-focused environment.

  • Hands-on leadership style with a willingness to jump into operations and lead by example.

  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required for travel between locations.
