Job Summary:
Seeking a Tool Design Engineer II to support the design and development of industrial machinery, tooling, fixtures, gauges, and production equipment. The role involves creating detailed 3D models and engineering drawings while supporting manufacturing, prototype, and testing requirements for automotive and industrial applications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design industrial machinery, tools, dies, gauges, jigs, fixtures, and machine attachments for production and experimental use.
  • Develop and maintain 3D CAD models and detailed drawings using CATIA.
  • Review engineering specifications, sketches, layouts, and customer requirements to support component design.
  • Create tolerance stack-ups, exploded views, and manufacturing drawings following ANSI and ISO standards.
  • Design components including castings, forgings, stampings, plastics, and machined parts.
  • Apply GD&T principles to engineering drawings.
  • Support prototype fixture and testing equipment design activities.
  • Perform packaging studies and design feasibility analysis.
  • Maintain models and drawings within SmartTeam database systems.
  • Participate in design reviews, supplier meetings, and customer discussions.
  • Apply Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles to improve manufacturability and reduce cost.
  • Coordinate technical clarification meetings and ensure project timelines are met.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of CATIA design experience with strong 3D modeling and detailing skills
  • Knowledge of GD&T and engineering drawing standards (ANSI/ISO)
  • Experience designing castings, stampings, and machined components
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting automotive powertrain component design
  • Familiarity with SmartTeam database management
