Job description

Position Purpose
The Mechanical Integrator is responsible for leading mechanical integration scopes across standard and moderately complex projects. This role contributes throughout the full project lifecycle-from early coordination and shop testing to on-site installation, troubleshooting, and final client delivery.
Integrators at this level operate with autonomy, coordinate across rigging, staging, and motion systems, and serve as technical leads for defined scopes. They are expected to manage integration tasks independently, mentor junior team members, and contribute to internal standards and documentation.
Mechanical Integrator II is a mid-level role focused on building technical depth, leadership maturity, and cross-functional awareness. Over time, Integrators are expected to demonstrate increasing ownership, problem-solving ability, and visibility across the department.
An integrator exists on the uniquely TAIT line between technology and art-bringing creative visions to life through precision, collaboration, and technical execution.
Essential Responsibilities & Accountabilities
  • Lead mechanical integration efforts from shop to site
  • Coordinate across rigging, staging, and automation disciplines
  • Troubleshoot complex issues and ensure system readiness
  • Fulfill shop testing and setup responsibilities, especially for complex elements
  • Act as technical lead for defined scopes within larger projects
  • Communicate frequently with project teams about progress, risks, and technical challenges
  • Mentor Associate and Mechanical Integrator I team members
  • Represent integration in planning, estimating, and client-facing meetings
  • Collaborate with internal teams on post-project activities, including maintenance and support
  • Create and maintain technical documentation and inspection reports
  • Contribute to internal standards and process improvements
  • Participate in knowledge-sharing and contribute to team learning materials
  • Promote safe working practices and uphold TAIT's safety protocols
  • Stay current with tools, technologies, and integration techniques
  • Exposure to projects in both Portable (Live/Brand Experience) and Fixed (Placemaking/LBE) markets
Minimum Qualifications
To perform the essential responsibilities, individuals must have the following level of education and experience, or equivalent combination. Additionally, the following certifications, knowledge, skills, or physical requirements are necessary for the position.
  • GED or High School Diploma
  • 4-7+ years in a mechanical or technical role
  • Strong fabrication and blueprint reading skills
  • Experience with rigging, hydraulics, and mechanical systems in live entertainment environments
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics and technical documentation
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Technological curiosity and problem-solving mindset
  • Willingness to travel approximately 99-120 days/year, both domestically and internationally depending on project requirements
  • Comfortable working in varied entertainment environments (e.g., shops, backstage, catwalks, cruise ships)
  • Right to work in the US or UK
  • Based in Lititz or Wakefield preferred

  • Expected time spent at this level is 3-5 years

  • Builds technical reputation through consistent delivery and problem-solving
  • Leads small- to medium-scale scopes with minimal supervision

Working Conditions and Physical Effort
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee is required to frequently walk, bend, climb, push, pull, twist, squat, stoop, and kneel each day. Specific requirements are:
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to lift or move 70 lbs. with or without assistance.
  • Must be able to pull or push 140 lbs.
Work conditions of the role:
  • Work conditions may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements such as dirt, dust, fumes, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises. Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks which require following basic safety precautions.
  • Must be able to wear and properly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to work within or visit areas where required. This includes, safety glasses, reflective vest, ear plugs, safety toed shoes, and other PPE as required by the location
  • Ability to work in "entertainment conditions" including a wide variety of working places such as shops, backstage, catwalks at height, construction areas, theme parks, and cruise ships.
