Stage Management Intern information

What is a stage management intern?

Stage management interns are individuals who assist professional stage managers in coordinating all aspects of a theatrical production. Their responsibilities often include helping with rehearsal schedules, taking notes, communicating between cast and crew, and ensuring performances run smoothly. This role provides hands-on experience in stage management, allowing interns to learn about backstage operations, organization, and problem-solving within a live theater environment.

What are the typical responsibilities of a stage management intern during a production cycle?

As a Stage Management Intern, you will support the stage manager and assistant stage manager throughout rehearsals and performances. Your daily tasks may include preparing rehearsal spaces, distributing scripts or schedules, taking detailed rehearsal notes, and assisting with communication between the cast, crew, and production staff. During performances, you may help manage backstage logistics, track props and costumes, and ensure that cues are executed smoothly. This hands-on experience is invaluable for understanding the fast-paced, collaborative nature of live theater production.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a stage management intern, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Stage Management Intern, you need strong organizational abilities, attention to detail, and a foundational understanding of theatre production, often acquired through coursework or hands-on experience. Familiarity with production scheduling software, script notation tools, and basic stage equipment is typically expected. Excellent communication, adaptability, and teamwork skills are crucial for coordinating cast, crew, and creative teams under pressure. These skills ensure smooth rehearsal and performance processes, supporting the overall success and safety of live productions.

What is the difference between Stage Management Intern vs Production Assistant?

While both roles support production teams, a Stage Management Intern primarily assists with coordinating rehearsals and performances, focusing on communication and organization. A Production Assistant often handles a broader range of tasks, including administrative support and on-set assistance. The internship offers specialized experience in stage management, whereas the Production Assistant role provides versatile exposure across various production areas.

IT Project Management & Delivery Intern (Shared Services / PMO)
Location: Tallahassee, FL (Hybrid)
Duration: Summer Internship (10-12 weeks)
Reporting to: Shared Services / PMO leadership (matrixed with Delivery)
Position Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated Project Management & Delivery Intern to support our IT Shared Services organization. This role is designed for a student who is interested in how strategy, planning, and execution come together across a portfolio of technology initiatives.
The intern will work closely with Project Managers, Delivery Managers, and Product partners to support project execution, portfolio reporting, and tooling enablement, while gaining hands-on exposure to how a modern IT organization manages intake, prioritization, and delivery at scale. This is not a shadow-only internship - the intern will own real deliverables that help improve visibility, consistency, and outcomes across the PMO and Delivery functions.
Key Responsibilities
Project & Delivery Support
  • Support active IT projects by assisting with scheduling, status tracking, action item follow-ups, and risk/issue documentation.
  • Partner with Project and Delivery Managers to ensure project plans, milestones, and dependencies are kept current in approved tooling.
  • Help prepare weekly and monthly project status updates for leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.

Portfolio & Reporting Enablement
  • Assist in building and maintaining portfolio-level views that roll up project status, health, and key milestones across multiple workstreams.
  • Support standardization of dashboards and readouts used for Shared Services, PMO, and executive-level visibility.
  • Help reconcile project lists, intake requests, and roadmap views to ensure leadership has a single, reliable source of truth.

Tooling & Process Learning
  • Learn and actively use the organization's project management tooling (e.g., Smartsheet), including timelines, dashboards, and basic automations.
  • Support documentation of intake flows, stage gates, and common PMO artifacts to reduce friction and improve onboarding.
  • Participate in tool evaluations, demos, or optimization efforts as the organization continues to mature its PM and portfolio capabilities.

Process Improvement & Special Projects
  • Identify opportunities to streamline PMO and delivery processes and help implement improvements.
  • Support Shared Services initiatives such as intake optimization, capacity visibility, or cross-team coordination efforts.
  • Contribute to post-project reviews or lessons-learned activities.

What You'll Learn
  • How enterprise IT organizations manage project intake, prioritization, and execution.
  • How PMO, Delivery, Product, and Finance partner to manage a portfolio of work.
  • Practical experience with project management tools, reporting, and executive-facing dashboards.
  • How to communicate clearly across technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Business, Information Systems, Project Management, Data/Analytics, or a related field.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Comfortable learning new tools and working with structured data.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Interest in project management, delivery, operations, or technology strategy.

Nice to Have
  • Exposure to Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid project management approaches.
  • Experience with spreadsheets, dashboards, or reporting tools.
  • Curiosity about how organizations scale work across teams.

Please apply directly through our official careers site or authorized recruitment channels. Using third-party application services may create issues with your applicant profile and lead to processing delays.
Salary will be commensurate with experience. A comprehensive benefits package including paid time off is offered with this position.
