Mastery of design tools like Figma, Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite, and familiarity with prototyping and user testing platforms are essential. How does a Staff Product Designer typically collaborate with cross-functional teams during the product development process?

As a Staff Product Designer, you’ll frequently work alongside product managers, engineers, researchers, and other designers to bring products from concept to launch. You'll be responsible for leading design strategy discussions, facilitating workshops, and ensuring design solutions align with both user needs and business objectives. Job description

Staff Product Designer
About Helpside:
For more than 30 years, Helpside has served as a Utah-based Professional Employer Organization (PEO) that makes it easier for small- and mid-sized businesses to employ people by streamlining payroll, employee benefits, HR, safety, and workers' compensation services. We bring the systems and expertise for our clients' HR back-office, so they can focus on what makes their business tick.
Role Overview:
We're looking for a Staff Product Designer to own the end-to-end user experience at Helpside and build our design system from the ground up. You'll set design standards for the product and do hands-on work involving: research, user flows, wireframes, mockups, prototypes, and shipped features. You'll work directly with leadership, product and engineering, and cross-functional teams to make complex HR, payroll, and benefits workflows simple and easy to use.
Key Responsibilities:
UX Vision & Strategy -
  • Define, communicate, and implement a cohesive vision for the product user experience that helps our clients achieve their goals and helps Helpside meet our business objectives
  • Influence product strategy by representing and advocating for user needs in planning and prioritization
  • Turn complex HR, payroll, and benefits processes into effortless, human-centered user journeys

Design System & Execution -
  • Build and maintain a comprehensive design system - styles, components, information architecture, and user flows - that lets us scale quickly while staying consistent
  • Own end-to-end design for features and initiatives: research, user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and final UI
  • Shepherd designs from concept to ship, collaborating closely with engineering through implementation

User & Market Research -
  • Deeply understand our clients and target personas through usability tests, customer interviews, and design reviews
  • Use data and research to set strategy and make design decisions

Collaboration & Leadership -
  • Partner with product, engineering, and department heads to translate business needs into design direction across the product
  • Present your work, explain your rationale, and influence without authority - with leadership, engineers, and clients

Qualifications:
  • 8+ years of product design experience, including time operating at a staff or principal level, preferably in B2B/SaaS software
  • A strong portfolio showing end-to-end work - including zero-to-one products and design systems you built, not just contributed to
  • Proficiency with Figma (design system management, prototyping, component architecture)
  • Experience using AI tools
  • High agency and strong communication
  • Preference for (but not required) candidates with experience in HR tech, payroll, benefits, fintech, or other complex/data-heavy domains

Compensation & Benefits:
  • Competitive Salary
  • Health insurance 100% paid by employer (for both employee and family!)
  • Additional voluntary supplemental benefits including dental, vision, life insurance, disability, accident, critical illness, etc.
  • 401(k) with company match

Job Location: Lindon, Utah (In-Person/Hybrid)
