Job description

Staff Municipal Civil Engineer
Location: Farmington Hills, MI
Employment Type: Full-Time
For over 70 years Fishbeck has been building. As a 100% employee-owned firm, every team member has a stake in what we build together—our work, our reputation, and our future. Now we need to add a Municipal Civil Engineer to help us keep building.
Working with our Municipal team, you will plan and design on a variety of municipal projects, as well as work with other departments on project proposals.
What You’ll Do
  • Plan and design for water main, sanitary and storm sewer, and road projects for local municipalities.
  • Perform design calculations, quantify bid items, develop cost estimates, execute CAD drafting, and prepare reports.
  • Specify project-specific technical specifications, standard construction drawings, and Maintenance of Traffic.
  • Assist in Bidding and Construction Phase Services on municipal projects including RFIs, shop drawing review, and as-built drawings.
  • Work closely with other technical staff from all Fishbeck offices to assist in providing consulting engineering services from state and private universities, municipalities, and local development clients.
  • Interact daily with project teams in a multi-discipline and multi-office environment.
What We’re Looking For
  • Working on EIT is a plus
  • 0-3 years of experience with the design of water main, sanitary sewer, and road projects.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil 3D software.
  • Experience with the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) Construction and Material Specifications and ODOT's Local Agency Program is a plus.
  • Excellent computer and communication skills.
