Job description

Job Summary:
Motional is a driverless technology company focused on making autonomous vehicles a safe and reliable reality. They are seeking a highly technical Staff Product Manager to lead the product strategy and execution for their fleet operations software tooling, including the Command Center application for fleet management.
Responsibilities:
• Develop and champion a compelling product vision, strategy, and roadmap for the entire driverless customer journey, focusing on creating intuitive, trustworthy, and delightful interactions at every touchpoint.
• Translate insights into clear product requirements and a prioritized backlog that delivers measurable customer and business value.
• Lead the product definition and development for our Command Center Fleet operations application, including:
• Config/deployment
• In-facility bring-up and launch
• on-road fleet management
• field support
• Maintenance
• Drive the technical product roadmap for in-vehicle display software, ensuring robust functionality, responsiveness, and seamless integration with vehicle systems.
• Author detailed technical product specifications, user stories, and acceptance criteria for engineering teams across customer experience and fleet systems.
• Demonstrate a strong bias for action and a proven ability to drive complex technical projects from concept through launch and iteration in an agile environment.
• Partner closely with software engineering (cloud, embedded, mobile), hardware engineering, AI/ML, and QA teams to ensure features are technically sound, built to specification, and delivered on time.
• Define and meticulously track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to customer satisfaction, engagement, task success rates, operational efficiency, and overall experience quality.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or HCI/Human Factors
• 5+ years of product management experience with a demonstrable strong technical background, specifically focused on customer-facing software products, operational tools, or complex system integrations.
• Proven history of successfully delivering technically challenging products from initial concept through multiple iterations and commercial launch.
• Deep understanding of software development lifecycles, agile methodologies, and modern software architecture (including cloud-based services and distributed systems).
• Experience with Human-Machine Interface (HMI) design, in-vehicle infotainment (IVI) systems, mobile application development (iOS/Android), platform/API integrations, or operational command and control interfaces.
• Exceptional ability to translate customer and operator needs into detailed technical requirements and effectively communicate them to engineering teams.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a meticulous attention to detail.
Preferred:
• Bachelors degree in a relevant technical field
• Direct experience in the autonomous vehicle, automotive technology, ride-sharing, or logistics/fleet management industries.
• Experience with in-vehicle operating systems (e.g., Android Automotive, QNX), display technologies, and vehicle communication protocols.
• Experience defining, building, and managing APIs for third-party integrations.
• Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and technologies relevant to fleet management and real-time data processing.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with both embedded/hardware engineering teams and cloud/mobile software engineering teams.
• A genuine passion for creating innovative, intuitive, and delightful user experiences in emerging technology domains for both end-customers and internal operational users.
• Experience with user research methodologies and usability testing for both consumer-facing and enterprise/operational tools.
