What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Stack Testing Technician, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Stack Testing Technician, you need a solid understanding of environmental science, air sampling methods, and relevant EPA regulations, typically supported by a science degree or equivalent technical training. Familiarity with stack testing equipment, data logging systems, and certifications such as Source Evaluation Society (SES) accreditation are commonly required. Attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and effective teamwork distinguish top performers in this field. These skills ensure accurate emission measurements, regulatory compliance, and reliable reporting for environmental protection.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals in stack testing, and how can they be addressed?

Professionals in stack testing often encounter challenges related to variable weather conditions, strict regulatory requirements, and the need for precise data collection. Working at elevated heights and handling sensitive equipment also require adherence to stringent safety protocols. To address these challenges, teams typically undergo thorough safety training, use specialized monitoring instruments, and maintain clear communication with other environmental and engineering staff to ensure accurate results and regulatory compliance.

What is stack testing?

Stack testing refers to the process of measuring the emissions released from industrial stacks or chimneys to ensure compliance with environmental regulations. It involves collecting and analyzing samples of gases and particulates emitted during industrial processes. The results help determine if a facility is meeting air quality standards and can identify areas for improvement. Stack testing is typically required by regulatory agencies to monitor pollutants such as sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxides, and particulate matter.

What is the difference between Stack Testing vs Environmental Technician?

AspectStack TestingEnvironmental Technician
CertificationsEPA Method 3, 6, 9 certificationsEPA certifications, safety training
Work EnvironmentField testing at industrial sites, power plantsField and lab work in environmental sites
Industry UsageIndustrial, power generation, manufacturingEnvironmental consulting, government agencies

Stack Testing and Environmental Technicians both work outdoors and require environmental certifications. However, Stack Testing focuses specifically on emissions testing at industrial stacks, while Environmental Technicians handle broader environmental assessments and sampling. Both roles are essential in environmental compliance but differ in scope and specific certifications.

Job description

Delivery Manager
Remote
Compensation: $90
ABOUT THE ROLE
Our client is seeking a Delivery Manager to lead and coordinate a large-scale laboratory application modernization initiative. In this role, you will partner across product, business, and technical teams to manage delivery across multiple modernization workstreams, including order entry, order delivery, accessioning, and pre-analytical laboratory workflows. You will be responsible for translating technical discussions into actionable milestones and business updates, serving as a liaison between engineering and business stakeholders, and ensuring clear communication of priorities, risks, and progress. The Delivery Manager will track delivery activities, coordinate frontend and backend teams, support agile processes, and leverage AI-enabled tools to enhance workflow visibility. The ideal candidate will have experience in large-scale modernization or enterprise application initiatives, strong knowledge of healthcare or laboratory domains, an understanding of lab IT workflows and system integrations, and excellent communication skills. Familiarity with web-based application architecture, agile delivery practices, and AI productivity tools is highly desirable, as is prior hands-on laboratory experience.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Coordinate delivery across laboratory application modernization workstreams, including order entry, order delivery, accessioning, and pre-analytical workflows.
  • Partner with product, business, and technical teams to identify delivery dependencies, application changes, integration impacts, and lab interface requirements.
  • Translate technical discussions into actionable milestones, delivery plans, and business-facing updates.
  • Serve as a communication bridge between engineering teams and business stakeholders, ensuring priorities, risks, and progress are clearly conveyed in both directions.
  • Track and manage delivery activities across modernization efforts, including stack testing, integration readiness, and workflow impacts.
  • Coordinate work across frontend and backend teams within web-based application environments.
  • Support agile delivery processes, planning sessions, and incremental release execution.
  • Leverage AI-enabled tools to enhance delivery tracking, documentation, and workflow visibility.

WHAT YOU BRING
  • Experience leading or coordinating delivery for large-scale modernization, transformation, or enterprise application initiatives.
  • Strong healthcare, laboratory, or diagnostics domain experience, including familiarity with order entry, order delivery, accessioning, or pre-analytical workflows.
  • Understanding of lab IT workflows, system integrations, middleware concepts, and lab interface dependencies.
  • Ability to understand technical conversations and terminology without needing to be hands-on technical or a software developer.
  • Familiarity with open-source or OpenStack-based environments.
  • Working knowledge of web-based application architecture, including medium-level understanding of frontend technologies such as Angular and backend environments such as Java or .NET.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to translate technical detail into business-relevant milestones, timelines, and status updates.
  • Experience supporting stack testing, release coordination, or integration tracking is strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with agile delivery practices and AI-enabled productivity tools is a plus.
  • Prior laboratory technologist or hands-on lab operations experience is a strong plus.
