They are capable of working on all layers of a software stack, including databases, servers, APIs, and user interfaces. This versatility enables them to take a project from concept to completion, handling both the client-facing and server-side aspects. Stack Software Engineers are in high demand due to their broad skill set and ability to collaborate across different parts of a development team.

To thrive as a Stack Software Engineer, you need strong proficiency in programming languages such as JavaScript, Python, or Java, along with a solid understanding of both front-end and back-end development. Experience with frameworks (like React or Node.js), version control systems (such as Git), and database management is typically expected, and certifications in relevant technologies can be advantageous. Strong problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills help you work effectively within agile teams and deliver robust solutions. These skills ensure you can build, maintain, and scale full-stack applications efficiently, meeting project goals and user needs.

Demonstrated experience building and shipping full-stack production applications, including frontend UI (e.g., React or similar) and backend services/APIs (e.g., Node.js, Python or similar), across the full development lifecycle.

Experience designing, developing, and deploying solutions using modern cloud platforms and services (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud, or similar); experience with LLM-based APIs or AI services is a plus.

Strong working knowledge of relational databases and SQL, including schema design, query optimization, and data modeling (PostgreSQL, SQL Server, or similar).

Proficiency with modern engineering practices, including Git-based version control, code review, automated testing, and CI/CD pipelines.

Preferred:

Experience building and deploying LLM-based or AI-powered applications, agents, or agentic workflows in production.

Experience with mobile app development, including React Native and Expo.
