Head Librarian job at St. Stephen's Episcopal School. Austin, TX.

St. Stephen's Episcopal School, a day and boarding school of 710 students (grades 6-12), is seeking a full-time Head Librarian beginning Augustโ€ฏ1,โ€ฏ2025.

We are seeking a colleague who thrives in a collaborative environment. The ideal candidate is eager to work closely with 6th through 12th grade day and boarding students and can demonstrate the ability to lead and work as part of a cohesive team.

Duties include:
  • Oversee library operations and manage library staff;
  • Manage library acquisitions and department budget;
  • Demonstrate his or her role as a visible and active leader within the school community;
  • Build and maintain professional relationships with faculty, staff and students;
  • Serve as a resource for day and boarding students, routinely offering general academic guidance, connecting them to onโ€‘campus support, and being involved in their academic success;
  • Collaborate with faculty on research projects;
  • Plan and implement library outreach activities and programming;
  • Lead Parent and Alumni book group meetings;
  • Assist students and faculty with library materials and equipment;
  • Perform other library related tasks as needed.
Qualified candidates should have:
  • A Master of Library Science degree;
  • A minimum of 5โ€ฏyears of experience;
  • Expertise with Library Management System software;
  • Familiarity with Follett Destiny is a plus;
  • Advanced knowledge and proficiency in the principles and techniques of librarianship.
