TeamHealth is seeking an academic-focused emergency medicine physician to serve as core faculty of the emergency medicine residency program at Mercy Health - St. Rita's Medical Center in Lima, Ohio. This is an exciting opportunity to teach and grow with a relatively new residency program that graduated its first class of residents in 2023.
Mercy Health - St. Rita's Medical Center
  • ED beds: 43
  • Acuity: High, 25% admission rate
  • Comprehensive Stroke Center, Heart & Vascular Center, and NICU
  • Cath lab, MRI, and PET/CT scanners available
  • Coverage: 47 hours of physician, plus 36 hours of APC
  • Shifts: 8 to 10 hours
  • EMR: Epic
  • Main training site for St. Rita's EM residency program
Qualifications
  • Board certification by the American Board of Emergency Medicine (ABEM) or American Osteopathic Board of Emergency Medicine (AOBEM)
  • Active medical license and hospital privileges or eligibility in Ohio
  • Must have strong interest in teaching and academics
  • Prior experience in academics with an ACGME-accredited residency program preferred
Program Overview
Mercy Health - St. Rita's Medical Center, a Level 2 trauma center and comprehensive stroke center, serves an 11-county catchment area and provides emergency care to approximately 56,000 patients annually. The three-year emergency medicine residency program is comprised of eight faculty members and 18 accredited residency positions. The program maintains continued ACGME accreditation and provides comprehensive training in all aspects of emergency care, employing a physiological approach and an interdisciplinary team model in which residents play a pivotal role.

Facility Description
Founded in 1918, St. Rita's Medical Center has served the Lima community and west central Ohio for a century. Medical services at the facility include Emergency Medicine, Cancer Treatment, Women's Health, Pediatrics, Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation and Behavioral Health Services. St. Rita's is a member of Mercy Health, the largest health system in Ohio and has been widely recognized for providing world-class care. In 2018 alone, St. Rita's was named a Top Hospital by IBM Watson Health, became one of only 13 facilities named an Everest award winner for fastest-improving over five years and received an "A" Hospital Safety Grade from the Leapfrog Group. The facility features several upcoming residencies in Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine, Family Medicine and General Surgery, so teaching opportunities may be available in the future for those with academic interests.
