Job description

Hood Container is seeking an experienced Paper Machine Superintendent to lead paper machine operations with a focus on safety, quality, productivity, and team development. This role is responsible for ensuring efficient, cost-effective production while supporting continuous improvement initiatives and developing future leaders within the organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a safe, compliant, and injury-free work environment.
  • Manage paper machine operations to meet production, quality, and cost objectives.
  • Maximize equipment reliability, uptime, and operational efficiency.
  • Develop and implement short- and long-term operating plans and capital improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Sales and Marketing to ensure products consistently meet customer expectations.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop supervisors and hourly team members.
  • Drive continuous improvement in safety, quality, productivity, and employee engagement.
  • Partner with site leadership to support mill-wide initiatives and long-term business growth.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience).
  • 5-10 years of linerboard or paper manufacturing experience.
  • Proven leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of paper machine operations, safety, quality, and continuous improvement practices.
