Job Description: Teachers at St. John the Baptist are blessed to teach some of the most hardworking, respectful, and delightful students in Northwest Indiana and the Southeast Side of Chicago. Each student comes from a highly dedicated, very involved family. Teachers at St. John the Baptist work in a collaborative environment that is powered by dedicated professionals. Our teachers are responsible for providing an educational environment where students have the opportunity to fulfill their potential for growth that opens up the potential to become disciples of Christ, through highly effective teaching practices that incorporate technology into the curriculum. Our teacher is responsible for promoting student achievement and academic success at every turn. Faithful, loving, caring, and dedicated teachers are desired to continue to uphold our mission of teaching Catholic values and principles, while pushing our students to become service-driven leaders.
Classes: This teacher will be responsible for the following classes: 4th Grade Math and Science. Our teachers actively support and play a faith-formation role in collaboration with our Director of Religious Education.
Job Requirements: Provide a positive environment that encourages students to be engaged in the learning process, including active and responsible use of technology. Implements instructional activities that contribute to an atmosphere where students are engaged in meaningful learning experiences. Identifies, selects, and modifies instructional resources to meet the needs of the students with varying backgrounds, learning styles, and special needs. Uses and analyzes available data to drive instructional practices, including ILEARN and NWEA MAP diagnostic data. Maintains effective and efficient grading procedures. Establishes and maintains cooperative and professional working relationships with students, parents, and colleagues, including the Pastor and Principal. Strong candidates will also be able to fit in with two ongoing initiatives at SJB: 1:1 learning and curriculum mapping.

Job Qualifications
Candidates must possess the following:
  • Degree in education (or will obtain by August 1, 2023)
  • Indiana teaching license (or will obtain by August 1, 2023)
  • Virtus Training Certification (or completed within the first 90 days of employment at St. John the Baptist.)
