WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?

We're seeking an Engineering Manager to lead and mentor a team of 5-8 full-stack engineers building financial tools for the next generation. You'll balance hands-on technical leadership with people management, maintaining your coding skills while driving team excellence through code quality, process improvement, and developer empowerment. This role is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of technical depth and team development.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

Lead and mentor a team of 5-8 full-stack engineers, providing career growth, technical guidance, and constructive feedback

Maintain technical credibility by staying hands-on, participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and occasional feature development to stay current with the stack

Drive code quality through establishing and enforcing best practices, conducting thorough PR reviews, and fostering a culture of ownership and excellence

Champion process improvement by identifying bottlenecks, proposing solutions, and continuously refining development workflows (testing strategy, CI/CD, deployment processes, etc.)

Enable and empower developers by removing blockers, advocating for their growth, and creating psychological safety for innovation and experimentation

Collaborate across product and design to ensure technical feasibility, scalability, and timely delivery of complex features

Contribute strategically** to architectural decisions and technical direction alongside your team

Build and scale the team as needed, participating in hiring and onboarding

Support the team through on-call rotations , driving incident remediation, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement from incidents

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED?

Must have

3+ years of software engineering management experience or 5+ years as a senior engineer transitioning into management

Deep technical expertise in full-stack development (ideally TypeScript,

NestJS, React Native, or similar modern stacks)

Proven track record of improving code quality and establishing development standards

Strong people management skills, ability to mentor, coach, and develop engineers at various levels

Experience driving process improvements and building scalable development practices

Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams (engineering, product, design)

Demonstrated ability to enable and empower teams rather than micromanage

Comfort with hands-on technical work while balancing management responsibilities

Background in financial services or fintech

Nice-to-have

* Experience managing distributed or remote teams

* Familiarity with AWS, CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions), and monitoring tools

* Experience scaling teams from 5 to 10+ engineers

* Knowledge of performance optimization and system scalability at scale
