Description

You are the linchpin between field talent, Syneos Health, and our customers.

Working directly with the Syneos Health National Project Director (NPD), the Sr. Sales Training Manager (Sr. STM) serves as the strategic learning leader responsible for the design, implementation, governance, and continuous evolution of commercial training initiatives supporting Syneos Health client engagements. Collaboratively, the Sr. STM, will help to be the liaison between client commercial leadership, Sales Directors, Medical, Marketing, Compliance, Syneos Health Training Content Developers and cross-functional partners. The Sr. STM will develop and sustain long-term learning strategies that improve commercial capability, accelerate field effectiveness, and drive business performance.

The Sr. STM functions as a senior consultant to both Syneos Health and client leadership, leading training strategy from concept through execution while ensuring alignment with business objectives, launch readiness, organizational priorities, and adult learning best practices. This role provides leadership across onboarding, product launches, leadership development, sales excellence, coaching initiatives, account management training, and ongoing capability development while mentoring training team members and influencing learning strategy across multiple projects or business units.

Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Training Leadership

  • Develop and own the comprehensive commercial learning strategy aligned to client business objectives.
  • Build multi-year training roadmaps supporting launches, portfolio growth, organizational changes, and commercial priorities.
  • Serve as the primary strategic learning advisor to the National Project Director and client leadership.
  • Evaluate evolving marketplace dynamics and recommend proactive learning solutions.
  • Lead continuous improvement of training programs through analytics, field insights, and performance metrics.
  • Establish governance processes to ensure consistency across all learning initiatives.

Learning Strategy & Curriculum Leadership

  • Lead the design and evolution of comprehensive onboarding curricula.
  • Develop integrated learning journeys for sales representatives, managers, and commercial leaders.
  • Oversee curriculum architecture including live, virtual, blended, and digital learning.
  • Ensure learning solutions incorporate adult learning principles, behavior change methodology, coaching reinforcement, and performance support.
  • Guide instructional design standards in partnership with content development teams.

Client Partnership & Executive Collaboration

  • Build strong relationships with client Commercial Leadership, Sales Leadership, Marketing, Medical Affairs, Compliance, and Learning organizations.
  • Serve as a strategic consultant regarding learning priorities and capability development.
  • Present learning strategies, recommendations, outcomes, and ROI to senior leadership.
  • Influence organizational learning decisions using data and field insights.
  • Ensure alignment across Syneos Health and client stakeholders.

Leadership Development

  • Design and facilitate leadership development programs for frontline managers and directors.
  • Build coaching frameworks that improve manager effectiveness.
  • Develop programs supporting leadership capability, coaching excellence, and talent development.
  • Partner with sales leadership to improve coaching quality across the organization.

Project & Program Leadership

  • Lead multiple complex learning initiatives simultaneously.
  • Develop integrated project plans with milestones, budgets, timelines, risks, and mitigation strategies.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams to ensure successful program execution.
  • Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and learning effectiveness.
  • Drive accountability across internal and external stakeholders.

Facilitation & Delivery Excellence

  • Deliver highly engaging live, virtual, and hybrid learning experiences.
  • Facilitate product launch training, disease state education, sales skills, leadership development, account management, and coaching workshops.
  • Lead National Sales Meetings, POA meetings, manager meetings, and launch events.
  • Coach field representatives and managers through observation, field rides, and developmental feedback.
  • Mentor facilitators to ensure consistent delivery quality.

Measurement & Learning Analytics

  • Define success metrics and KPIs for all learning initiatives.
    Analyze training effectiveness using learner assessments, business performance data, coaching observations, adoption metrics, and field performance.
    Develop executive reporting dashboards demonstrating learning impact.
    Recommend program enhancements based on measurable business outcomes.

Collaborative Responsibilities

  • Partner with National Project Directors, Sales Directors, Marketing, Medical, Compliance, Legal, and client Learning & Development Content Developers.
  • Lead cross-functional planning meetings supporting product launches and commercial initiatives.
  • Ensure all training materials meet regulatory and compliance requirements.
  • Mentor Sales Training Managers and provide guidance on best practices.
  • Foster collaboration across internal and client organizations.

Design & Development Responsibilities

  • Oversee development of all commercial learning content.
  • Ensure learning materials align with strategic business objectives.
  • Review and approve curriculum, facilitator guides, participant materials, and digital learning assets.
  • Leverage innovative learning technologies and instructional methodologies.
  • Maintain governance of all training intellectual property.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution required
  • Master's degree preferred
  • 8+ years of Commercial Pharmaceutical, Biotechnology, or Healthcare experience
  • Minimum 4 years of commercial training experience
  • Minimum 2 years leading large-scale learning initiatives
  • Product launch experience across multiple brands preferred
  • Experience developing comprehensive training strategies and curricula
  • Experience leading manager and leadership development programs
  • Experience managing complex cross-functional projects
  • Experience presenting to executive leadership
  • Up to 40% travel required
  • Valid driver's license

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting multiple commercial teams or therapeutic areas
  • Experience with learning technologies (LMS, Veeva, Articulate, Enablement platforms)
  • Certification in adult learning, instructional design, coaching, or project management preferred
  • Experience leading matrix teams without direct authority
  • Experience managing vendor and agency partnerships

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $140,000 to $154,000. Actual salary will vary based on various factors such as the candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role. In addition, some positions may include eligibility to earn commissions/bonus based on company and / or individual performance.
