Compensation Overview

The annual base salary range provided for this position is a nationwide market range and represents a broad range of salaries for this role across the country. The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment. As part of our comprehensive compensation and benefits program, employees are also eligible for performance-based cash incentive awards.

What Is the Opportunity?

As a member of the Enterprise AI and Emerging Technology organization at Travelers, you'll be joining a strategic and collaborative team focused on transforming our business and technology capabilities leveraging best in class AI-enabled technology.
- We're looking for a Sr. Software Engineer in the Enterprise AI Platforms organization to join our team focused on delivering enterprise platform capabilities that enable and accelerate the development of generative AI applications.
- Will serve as a technical leader in the organization who is responsible for shaping architecture decisions and delivering technical features across the enterprise.
- Engineers at this level work across the full architecture of product delivery from requirements gathering to maintenance and enhancement of existing systems.
- Will lead stakeholder conversations, shape the technical direction of initiatives, and build collective ownership across engineering, architecture, and product.
- This role is for engineers who bring deep, production-ready delivery experience to the table and who can anticipate the needs of the business in a fast-paced environment.

What Will You Do?

• Design, lead, and own the delivery ofproduction-grade platformsthat engineering teamsleverageto build and deploygenerative AI applications.
• Drivearchitecture decisionsandsystem designacross multiple teams,establishingand advancing the technical patterns,engineering standards, and practices adopted across the enterprise.
• Leadstakeholder conversations, translate technical capabilities into clearbusiness value, andidentifyopportunities where technology can drivemeasurable business outcomes.
• Think proactively about thetechnical strategyof the Enterprise AI Platforms organization.
• Participate in and leadcross-organizational engineering eventsand technical forums to share knowledge across the enterprise.

What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?

• Bachelor's degreein Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, orequivalent practical experience.
• 6+ yearsof hands-on software development experience, includingdemonstratedproduction delivery of AI solutions.
• ProficiencyinPython, with experience inadditionallanguages such asTypeScript-particularly for candidates building AI integrations.
• Hands-on experiencebuilding and deploying generative AI applications.
• Hands-on experience withAWS and/or Azurecloud services.
• Hands-on experience with containerization and orchestration tools, includingKubernetes.
• Hands-on experience withCI/CD toolingsuch as GitHub Actions or Jenkins.
• Hands-on experience designing, delivering, andmaintaininglarge, distributed, production-grade applicationsin an enterprise setting.
• Demonstrated ability to leadarchitecture and solution designacross teams in agile, collaborative development environments.
• Strongcommunicationskillswith the ability to lead technical conversations withnon-technical business stakeholdersand translate complex capabilities into measurable business outcomes.
• Leveragesdomainexpertiseto improve enterprise- and organization-level capabilities.
• Aleader by examplewho delivers technical features and naturally engages with other leaders across organizations and disciplines.
• Experience deployingthird-party vendor softwarein ahighly regulatedenterprise environment.
• Terraformforprovisioningcloud infrastructure experience.
• Helmfor Kubernetes application deployment experience.
• Evaluating generative AI applications experience.
• OSS agent frameworkssuch as Strands Agents andLangGraph experience.
• Observabilitytoolinganddistributed tracingin production environments experience.
• Zero-trust securityprinciples andsecure-by-designdevelopment practices when building and deploying enterprise systems experience.
• Experienceoperatingacrossmultiple projectsat once.

What is a Must Have?

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, related STEM field, or its equivalent in education and/or work experience.
• 6 additional years of software engineering experience.
