The Opportunity

We are seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to lead the design and implementation of mission-critical platform systems, APIs, and foundational architecture. This senior role involves owning significant platform capabilities, driving architectural decisions, and establishing technical standards that enable our entire engineering organization. You'll work on transformational platform initiatives while mentoring other engineers and ensuring our technology foundation scales with business growth.

We can only consider candidates for this position who are able to accommodate a hybrid work schedule and are close to our Charlotte, NC office.

Key Responsibilities:

Platform Architecture & Design:

  • Design and implement mission-critical platform features and foundational systems

  • Shape platform architecture through both written specifications and hands-on code implementation

  • Build and maintain frameworks that make software development easier for application teams

  • Drive AssetMark towards target platform architecture through strategic technical decisions

  • Author technical design documents for complex platform capabilities

Advanced Platform Development:

  • Create enterprise-scale solutions for data management, API governance, and service integration

  • Implement large-scale refactoring initiatives to improve platform code quality and performance

  • Build canonical source-of-truth data systems with robust governance and compliance capabilities

  • Design and implement standardized patterns for service integration and cross-application workflows

  • Establish and enforce API design principles, versioning strategies, and governance models

Technical Leadership & Standards:

  • Improve platform development practices and processes across multiple teams

  • Teach other engineers effective platform development and code review techniques

  • Help establish platform community practices around secure coding, data privacy, and design standards

  • Balance technical debt with platform evolution while maintaining enterprise reliability

  • Coordinate platform work across multiple development teams and resolve complex technical dependencies

Enterprise & Compliance:

  • Ensure platform architecture meets stringent security, compliance, and regulatory requirements

  • Design systems that support business growth and can scale to enterprise demands

  • Work with data governance policies and master data management principles

  • Support technology modernization initiatives and legacy system transformation

  • Collaborate with enterprise architecture and security teams on strategic platform decisions

  • Deep expertise in platform engineering, API design, and service-oriented architectures

Compensation: The Base Salary range for this position is between $165,000-$190,000.

This information reflects a base salary range that AssetMark reasonably expects to pay for the position based on a number of factors which may include job-related knowledge, skills, education, experience, and actual work location. This position will also be eligible for additional variable incentive compensation and competitive benefits.
