Job description

As a Senior Software Development Engineer on the Connectivity team, you will help build and enhance the Bluetooth technologies that power the Sonos ecosystem. You will work alongside experienced engineers to design, develop, test, and maintain Bluetooth software that delivers reliable, high-quality connectivity experiences across our products.
This role offers the opportunity to work on a critical technology area, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and contribute to innovative features that improve the customer experience.
Location: This is a hybrid position based in our Boston office. Team members are expected to work from the office at least three days per week to foster collaboration, innovation, and strong cross-functional partnerships.

What You'll Do
  • Design, develop, test, and maintain Bluetooth software for Sonos products.
  • Implement new Bluetooth features and improve existing functionality to enhance performance, reliability, and interoperability.
  • Investigate, debug, and resolve software defects and customer-reported connectivity issues.
  • Collaborate with Product, QA, Mobile, Platform, and Hardware Engineering teams throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Participate in software design discussions, code reviews, and technical planning.
  • Develop and maintain automated tests to improve software quality and regression coverage.
  • Contribute to continuous improvements in engineering processes, tooling, and development practices.
  • Stay current with Bluetooth standards and emerging technologies to help drive future innovation.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3-5 years of professional software development experience.
  • Strong programming skills in C/C++.
  • Experience developing software on Linux or embedded systems.
  • Familiarity with Bluetooth Classic and/or Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE).
  • Experience debugging complex software issues and working across hardware/software boundaries.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills in a cross-functional environment.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with consumer electronics or IoT devices.
  • Familiarity with Bluetooth SIG specifications, profiles, and protocols.
  • Experience with Wi-Fi or other wireless networking technologies.
  • Experience with automated testing, CI/CD, and modern software development tools.
  • Knowledge of Agile software development practices.

The base pay range for this role based off geographic location is:
$137,000 and $170,900
The specific pay offered will depend on the candidate's geographic location, as well as qualifications and experience. We apply geographic pay differentials based on the cost of labor in the market. Employees in high-cost locations may be compensated at the upper end of the range, while those in medium or low cost markets may be compensated at the lower end of the range. Your recruiter can provide more details about the specific salary range for your location during the hiring process.
