    Job description

    A day in the life

You arrive on the floor with the day’s production targets in hand. Your first move is to load, refine, and validate programs for robotic welders handling GMAW (MIG), GTAW (TIG), and spot applications, then pivot to the CNC machine tending cells to update paths and logic for smooth part flow. You calibrate robotic arms and sensors, verify weld controllers (OTC Daihen, Fronius, Lincoln) are dialed in, and run a quick cut-and-etch to confirm penetration and weld dimensions. Using calipers and gauges, you document results, adjust as needed, and lock in parameters to meet quality standards.

As production ramps, you troubleshoot robot or controller alarms, tune settings, and minimize downtime. Between cycles, you perform preventive and predictive maintenance, assist the team with setups and tool changes, and jump into problem-solving huddles to keep throughput on track. Throughout the shift, you wear required PPE, follow MIOSHA and environmental guidelines, and keep the cell organized and audit-ready.

    What you'll handle
    • Program robotic welders for multiple welding processes and update CNC machine tending robot routines.
    • Install, program, and fine-tune robotic welding equipment and weld controllers to production specs.
    • Install, configure, and adjust CNC machine tending automation; troubleshoot to hit production goals.
    • Set up, calibrate, and test robotic arms, end-of-arm tooling, and sensors.
    • Execute regular preventive and predictive maintenance on robotic welding systems.
    • Diagnose and resolve technical issues and system faults to reduce downtime.
    • Monitor weld quality (cut-and-etch, dimensions) and adjust parameters accordingly.
    • Ensure processes consistently meet quality requirements; document process variations and quality issues.
    • Use precision tools (calipers, gauges) and maintain accurate records.
    • Support manufacturing with setups, tool changes, and hands-on problem solving for smooth flow.
    • Comply with all safety procedures, wear appropriate PPE, and maintain a clean, organized workspace.
    What you bring
    • Mechanical aptitude and hands-on welding knowledge: GMAW (MIG), GTAW (TIG), and spot welding.
    • Blend of welding experience and automation/robotics expertise.
    • AWS certification (AWS Certified Robotic Arc Welder) and foundational welding knowledge.
    • Technical diploma or associate degree in robotics, automation, or welding technology.
    • Experience with robotic platforms such as FANUC, OTC Daihen, Nachi, and Yaskawa.
    • Familiarity with welding processes, materials, and weld controller brands (e.g., OTC Daihen, Fronius, Lincoln).
    • Comfort with programming logic, sensors, and PLCs.
    • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, prints, and check sheets.
    • Strong problem-solving, communication skills, and mechanical aptitude.
    • Physical capability to stand for long periods and to lift and carry up to 50 pounds; able to perform repetitive motions.
    • Solid understanding of safety procedures and working in a manufacturing environment; knowledge of MIOSHA and government safety regulations.
    • Ability to train, assist, lead, direct, instruct, and discipline employees as needed.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
    • Strong time management, urgency, and the ability to navigate unexpected challenges and rapidly drive solutions.
