Job description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Civil Estimator specializing in earthwork, site development, grading, excavation, underground utilities, and heavy civil construction. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for public and private infrastructure projects while collaborating closely with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and clients.
The Senior Civil Estimator is responsible for preparing turnkey estimates and proposals associated with various civil construction projects, including clearing, site access, site preparation, earthworks and concrete foundations. Their primary goal is to ensure that projects are economically feasible while meeting the highest standards of quality and safety. In this role, the Senior Civil Estimator works closely with customers and the project team to prepare detailed cost estimates that guide the planning and execution of construction projects. Key responsibilities include reviewing project plans, analyzing requirements, and using the estimating tools to create accurate and comprehensive cost estimates and proposals.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities:
  • Review and interpret project plans and specifications.
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for materials, labor and equipment.
  • Occasional site visits to gather data and assess project requirements.
  • Solicit and evaluate vendor's and subcontractor's bids and negotiate terms.
  • Analyze project requirements to identify potential risks and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Conduct risk assessments and provide feedback on potential challenges and opportunities.
  • Prepare initial project schedule and execution plan.
  • Collaborate with owners, engineers, and project personnel.
  • Prepare and submit bid proposals to clients and/or project stakeholders.
  • Monitor project costs and adjust estimates as necessary.
  • Provide cost advice throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Participating in project meetings to offer insights and recommendations on cost-related matters.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Strong understanding of construction materials and methods.
  • +10 years proven experience in estimating civil works.
  • Experience with estimating & scheduling software such as HCSS, Bluebeam, Microsoft Project or Primavera and proficient in Microsoft's Office Suite of programs.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to handle multiple estimates simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and team collaboration skills.
