Job description

When you work at Trex, you're helping to grow and enhance a true original. You join a company that boldly launched an entire industry... and still leads the way.
We are looking for a Process Engineer to help us establish and maintain operating parameters for plant equipment, provide technical support to production, maintenance, and process teams, and oversee the proper functioning of manufacturing lines. As a Trex Process Engineer, you will be looked to as an innovator in the manufacturing process and expected to lead the development and optimization of manufacturing processes and procedures for wood/plastic composites, ensuring efficient operation and adherence to quality standards. This role is a key member of our Engineering team.
Our Operations team is guided by 5 beliefs:

  2. We all operate on the same page
  3. We own it
  4. We are always tuned for success
  5. We make dynamic decisions

It's how we started and how we continue to lead the industry - finding intersections of opportunity and hard work, digging in, and digging deep. The result is progress, both for the company and for the people building their careers here. If you are values-driven and share our beliefs, if you are willing to hold yourself and others accountable to the highest standards, then Trex is a place you can call home.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Put safety first - Always!
  • Lead and foster our "people first" culture
  • Develop and implement processes and procedures for the function of plant equipment required in manufacturing wood/plastic composites. Establish and maintain the required operating parameters, based on observed data and best practices, with minimal supervision from the supervisor.
  • Provide technical leadership to the Production Supervisors, Process Technicians, and maintenance team members to solve problems and optimize the operation of plant equipment.
  • Assume responsibility for the proper operation of the manufacturing lines and coordinate the repair and replacement of these pieces of equipment as needed.
  • Lead project and process development with weekly reports to the Process Engineering Manager.
  • Pursue capital projects based on a cost-benefit analysis and the intended production impact. Work with the project team to completion.
  • Work with other departments on capital projects or improvements, identify necessary resources, and follow up to assess the operational success of the installed equipment.
  • Utilize Problem-solving expertise to address process, equipment, materials, quality, and EHS issues.
  • Regularly lead teams using Continuous Improvement tools (fishbone, 5-why, etc.) to determine root cause, corrective actions, and preventive measures. Follow actions to closure.
  • Presents findings from CI/Lean events to senior management.
  • Mentor junior engineers, provide guidance, and lead teams on process improvement projects.
