Job description

Job Overview:
APTIM is seeking an experienced IT Business Analyst - Project Systems & Digital Delivery to support the organization's project systems delivery and digital transformation initiatives through the evaluation, implementation, optimization, and governance of project systems and digital delivery technologies.
This position serves as a critical liaison between project teams, project controls professionals, operations leaders, and technology teams to ensure business processes are effectively supported by scalable, integrated, and user-friendly technology solutions.
The successful candidate will play a key role in advancing APTIM's digital delivery strategy by helping select, deploy, and continuously improve project platforms and project information management systems.
This role offers the opportunity to influence enterprise-wide project delivery processes, technology strategy, and digital transformation initiatives while partnering with professionals across engineering, environmental, infrastructure, government, and construction-related projects. In addition, the position will support proposal development efforts by contributing technical approaches, implementation strategies, digital delivery capabilities, and technology differentiators that strengthen APTIM's competitive position.
Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
Business Analysis & Stakeholder Engagement
  • Evaluate, recommend, implement, and optimize project systems and digital delivery solutions that improve project execution, collaboration, and operational performance.
  • Support platforms used for project execution.
  • Partner with project delivery teams to identify opportunities to leverage digital technologies that enhance project visibility, process efficiency, consistency, and data quality.
  • Analyze current-state project workflows and develop future-state digital processes that support standardization, governance, scalability, and improved user experiences.
  • Support initiatives involving project lifecycle management.
  • Collaborate with technical teams and vendors to define system integrations and data exchanges between project delivery platforms and enterprise systems.
  • Identify opportunities to replace manual, paper-based, or spreadsheet-driven processes with standardized digital solutions and automated workflows.
  • Research emerging technologies and industry best practices related to digital delivery, construction technology, project systems, and project controls.
  • Assist in establishing governance practices, standards, and adoption strategies for project delivery technologies across the organization.

System Implementation & Continuous Improvement
  • Participate in software evaluations, proof-of-concept efforts, vendor assessments, and technology selection initiatives.
  • Develop business cases, solution recommendations, implementation strategies, and technology roadmaps.
  • Collaborate with internal technology teams, implementation partners, and software vendors to configure and deploy solutions.
  • Lead or support software testing activities, including test planning, test script development, execution, defect resolution, and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
  • Monitor system adoption, business outcomes, and user feedback to identify enhancement opportunities and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support platform governance, release management, system upgrades, and enhancement planning activities.
  • Document business processes, requirements, decisions, configurations, and implementation outcomes.

Change Management & Training
  • Develop training materials, standard operating procedures, job aids, user guides, and support documentation.
  • Assist with organizational change management activities to promote successful adoption of new technologies and business processes.
  • Conduct user training sessions and stakeholder communications.
  • Serve as a functional subject matter expert for project management, project controls, and digital delivery platforms.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, Project Systems Analyst, Project Controls Analyst, Product Owner or similar role.
  • Demonstrated experience gathering, documenting, and managing business requirements throughout the solution lifecycle.
  • Strong understanding of project management principles, methodologies, and project delivery lifecycles.
  • Experience supporting software implementations, business process improvement initiatives, or digital transformation projects.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, facilitation, and communication skills.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams and managing stakeholder relationships.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, project-oriented environment.

Preferred Skills:
  • Experience with project execution platforms such as Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, InEight, Oracle Primavera Cloud, Autodesk, Timberline, Bridget.
  • Knowledge of project controls processes including scheduling, resource planning, earned value management, risk management, and cost management.
  • Experience supporting proposal development, technical solution writing, or capture activities.
  • Certification such as CBAP, PMI-PBA, PMP, Agile Certification, or equivalent.
  • Experience working in engineering, construction, environmental, government contracting, or professional services organizations.

As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay range for this position is $120K to $150K per year. Compensation depends on several factors including: experience, education, key skills, geographic location of the position, client requirements, external market competitiveness, and internal equity among other employees within APTIM.
